Here is my thinking. Hold Ground is a waste on CBs and I will tell you why.

Hold Ground = not being pushed back and ability to pancake blocker
Break Run Block = break away from a run block
Footwork = ability to move away from the blocker after breaking the run block

To me, the only 2 that really matter are BRB and Footwork. Even if you lose a couple of run blocking interactions and get pushed back a few yards, if you invest high in footwork, you will eventually be able to break away from the blocker and run up to the HB by the time he reaches the LOS.

does imperial storm trooper 5 have some hold ground?

it is my opinion that it matters on run defense

I also disagree with your description of what footwork does -- but I could be wrong.

I agree that Footwork helps get off a block, but BRB is useless if you get Pancaked as soon as the block is engaged.

But Hold Ground has nothing to do with getting pancaked...it only helps in "not getting pushed back" and reverse pancaking the offensive blocker.

Balance has to do with not getting pancaked...and yes, all my defenders have a crap load of balance.

Depends on what he's being used for, here's my run stopping CB (sophomore):

60 Break Run Block
47 Hold Ground
33 Balance

78 Revcakes, 13 caked.

30

He's the CB I stick in the CB2/CB4 slot against running team. I try not to let him in vs passing teams, but every now and then he doesn't listen

You can get to 68 BRB on CBs and even with that, you'll be at a disadvantage against the best blocking WRs.

You just need 1 broken block and excellent footwork to get around the blocker.
