I don't know if this is a dumb idea but when I was game planning today I thought it would be useful.

I was thinking it would be nice to have the ability to use a shift on the defensive lineman and linebackers in formations.

Basically when game planning you would be able to pinch, spread, or shift left or right with the defensive line and linebackers.

It would either have to be done for all defensive plays against a formation or all plays used in a formation to keep the simplicity of game planning.

I just thought it could be useful for teams that run outside only or to the right only or so forth, basically would give an advantage to the defense if offenses just set a basic offense and run 5 plays.

I like it. A lot of teams only run to the strong side. It would be cool to shift the defense in that direction.

I don't really like it, simply because it too much like GLB1. I think they need to add more and better situation based plays. I never used Bort plays on purpose until coming here for a good reason.

I don't think it's a good idea. While I see the uses mentioned...with it being "vs ALL of a formation" (which is the only workable mechanic, short of massively changing AI), it's way too easy to be set wrong and totally screw over a team. This could be good as part of an AI overhaul, but as an individual feature, way too risky for the low-level coordinators and majority of the game's players.

I have enough trouble just getting the play I want, when I want. Throw this in with the current wonky ass DAI system and my head would explode. It is really putting the carriage before the horse.

What I mean by too like GLB1 is that they seemed to add too many player suggested features and strayed too far from the creator's vision. This suggestion has hints of the DPC and we should be cautious of what we ask for.

I know this is older but doing some suggestions catch up reading; I don't think this should be an AI feature I do however think this would an interesting feature (and potential player lever - something the game is missing) that could be easy to implement.

Rather than a "shift" tag all plays as Run Left, Run Middle, Run Right .. track the quantity it gets to far to one direction allow the defender to "cheat" over to that side. Give the defensive players the option to shade never, almost never, sometimes, often, always to the side the offense calls most often.
