My Sophmore, Lv. 6 WR seems to fall down a lot.
I don't know why he falls down so much, whether it is due to a low footing stat-bad throws caught that made him fall- or what..
It just seems that a lot of the time, that when my WR catches the ball in crossing patterns or in designated WR screens he makes the catch, then just falls down. Is there a stat I can increase to keep him on his feet (lol)

If you don't have max Receiving Grip, don't invest in Balance yet.

Falling down is helpful solely because it prevents a Knocked Loose. So get Max Rec Grip BEFORE investing in Balance.

At least your dude is apparently holding onto the ball. I am amazed at the number of drops in this game.. it's so silly. Computer controlled characters just can't hold onto the ball apparently. ~15 a game by the receivers drives me nuts.

It gets marginally better. I still see ~10% drops in some games.

I've been wondering this, so it prevents a knocked loose, but is it possible to force a fumble when they're on the ground?

Even max level receivers drop everything and fall down constantly in this game, just gotta get used to it and work through it.
