Does it do anything other than help the awareness of when the QB threw a pass or handed the ball off?

Pretty sure your pathing logic when pass rushing isn't skill based, but solely due to the tactic option. Having good maneuverability can help a bunch on evasive. Blitz aware does exactly what it says, lets you switch from pass rush to pursuit or coverage mode as quickly as possible.
