No, not under GLB1 type assumptions.

Basic GLB1 pass defense process, unadjusted for GLB2 (where you've got WRs not recognizing passes the way they did in GLB1):

- I have to see the ball is coming in the first place
- I have to get into position near enough the the ball to interact with it
- I have to check if I am even going to get a chance to interact with the ball (intercept chance and if that fails, then deflect chance).
- If I'm near the WR, I have to fight with him to see who gets a chance at the ball (my roll vs his roll)
- If I win, I get to intercept or swat the ball. (depends on first roll type that succeeded, and if the WR gives me trouble catching it)
- If I lose, the receiver gets to try and catch the ball. It's all up to him now, though my being close by makes it harder on him.
- If the receiver fails to catch the ball, I get once more chance to try and intercept it if I am close enough.
- If the receiver catches it, now I've got to tackle him. Here's my chance to knock it loose with a good hit.

Nice info! So it looks like zone coverage should give the DB more opportunity to INT due to the fact that alot of the times, he is not near the WR when he interacts with the ball. So he automatically gets a chance for the INT. Too bad I'm not pumping much INT into my defenders.

Also, romo's description doesn't completely describe every situation. You can INT passes following a deflection, drop, or KL too.

http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/98134/1579555?player_id=35272 - KL pass that gets picked off by another defender in the vicinity.

I'm curious. What is the ratio of INTs for CBs in man vs safeties that play zone? I would think safeties have a much higher percentage per ball interaction, although CBs probably have a much higher interaction rate.

that's a question for stobie, but honestly even then it's so build dependent it's probably tough to guage. Safeties have such an important run defense function, it's probably tough to find some that are built well enough for coverage and also have spent points into INT to be really, really effective.

What I do know is that I've seen guys with 90ish man awareness and coverage tech, 80ish deflection, and ~50 INT skill have 10+ INT type seasons. Gold OAI and Gold 3DS on SAs.

I haven't seen anyone with 80+ INT and 50ish deflection come even close to that. Perhaps they're out there, but I've not had access to see the build.

For example:

#3 CB on HOF, build is open to the public. He had ~50 INT last season when he got 10 Interceptions. It's higher now at 62, and still on pace for 8-9 INTs.

And another, just today:
