08: #2 Killer Kiwi’s 14-1 vs. #11 Death Valley Deadites 12-3

Killer Kiwi’s
Record: 14-1 Global: 217 Tier: 2
Owner: Roma30 GM: rob4121983 (2 SHIPs) aGM: Chevanton10 (1 SHIP) HC: OrigJoker
Roster: 42 with 4 S* HB, C, OT & SS

The Kiwi’s have outscored opponents 84-7 in the last two games and by 687-67 with 9 shutouts on the season. Last Ladder they beat #10 Sexy Dance Fighters 42-0. They are a pure rushing team utilizing 2 rQBs and 2 HBs that primarily runs outside (80%+). Their QBs average 12.2 and 11.7 yards per rush with the HBs at 4.5 and 3.8. The Kiwi’s best wins are against #5 Compton Regulators, #10 Sexy Dance Fighters, #16 LA, #25 Sydney Wombats and #21 Iron Brigade Phalanx. Their only loss is to #24 Ground Assault.

Death Valley Deadites Record: 12-3 Global: 235 Tier: 11
Owner: rch3 GM: ya577 (2 SHIPs) aGM: ArkPhoenix
Roster: 43 with 3 S* CB, DT, DE

Death Valley has outscored opponents 75-17 over the last two games and has 5 shutouts on the season. Death Valley is a balanced team that will throw in some QB Rollout. Their play calling in League is 34 pass/ 34 run. Their run mix has been more balanced inside/outside in their last few Ladder games. Last Ladder they beat the #45 Indianapolis Stingers 31-7. Their best wins are against #21 Iron Brigade Phalanx and #23 Central Falcons. They have losses to #1 LogZilla Boys, #10 Sexy Dance Fighters and #24 Ground Assault.

Game comment:
It’s not their fault but Death Valley’s quality wins have deteriorated as most of the teams they have beaten had good Ladder rankings, but have fallen off in the last few weeks. As such they don’t have a win against a current Top 20 team and only two against the Top 25, with a loss. Meanwhile the Kiwis’ have 5 wins against Top 25 teams and only 1 loss. Death Valley gave up 35 and 28 points to teams similar to the Kiwi’s: GA and Sexy. Does DV have enough Run D to stop the Kiwi’s? My guess is no since run heavy teams have scored the most on them. Quality wins and a weakness against the Kiwi’s style make DV the clear underdog. Pick is the Kiwi’s.

10: #4 Milwaukee Beers 13-2 vs. #7 Inner City Kids 12-3

Milwaukee Beers Record: 13-2 Global: 225 Tier: 4
Owner: Aeir
Roster: 41 with 3 S* HB, OT, TE

The Milwaukee Beers have outscored opponents by 69-17 over the last two games with 8 shutouts on the season. They are a pure rushing team with 1 rQB and 2 HB. Their QB is averaging 6.7 yards per carry and the HBs are at 3.8 and 3.9. They are usually an 80%+ outside rushing team. Their last Ladder game they beat the #21 Iron Brigade Phalanx 49-0. Their best wins are against the #21 Live Oak Eagles, #19 NJ Surge, #21 Iron Brigade Phalanx and #11 Boston Redcoats. Their only losses are to #3 Fear Factory and #8 Winnipeg Wrath.

Inner City Kids Record: 12-3 Global: 231 Tier: 7
Owner: crazyveggie GM: jjet5552007 aGM: Silvermist HC: agginpil DC: joannes3000
Roster: 37 with 8 S* HB, C, G, OT, WR & LB, SS, FS

The Kids have outscored opponents 55-3 in the last two games with 4 shutouts on the season. The Kids are a GL QB Rollout / HB Sweep team that has added 4WR Spread sets with HB Dives and Strong Pitches. They pass 11 times a game in League and I have to wonder why since they have a 32% completion rate. They won their last Ladder game against #25 Sydney Wombats 35-3. Their OLine is primarily run blockers. They have LBs with lots of sacks. Their best wins are against #6 Sexy Dance Fighters, #15 Olaf’s Warm Hugs and #25 Sydney Wombats. They have losses to #25 Default Name, #27 Sandy Cheeks and #29 Tampa Bay Drunks.

Game comment:
The Kids have put together a 10 game winning streak to advance up the Ladder. They have a little of the Death Valley problem in that a lot of teams they have beaten have been drifting down the Ladder, yet they still have 3 wins against the Top 25. They Beers have 4 wins against similar competition, yet have only lost to Top 10 teams. This should be a very good game as the Kids have more S* but the Beers still have the better overall season performance. It’s basically a coin-flip as the 4 vs 7 matchup indicates. I’ll go with the Beers, but a Kids win is no upset.

11: #10 Sexy Dance Fighters 12-3 vs. #21 Live Oak Eagles 10-5

Sexy Dance Fighters Record: 12-3 Global: 234 Tier: 10
Owner: Extremedaze (2 SHIPs) GM: Greg0781 (2 SHIPs)
Roster: 43 with 3 S* G, G, WR

Sexy has lost to the Kiwi’s 0-42 and beaten Canisteo 21-7 in the last two games and has 9 shutouts on the season. Sexy is a QB Rollout / HB Sweep team. They lost their last Ladder game 0-42 against #2 Killer Kiwi’s. Their QB is averaging 7.4 yards per carry and their HBs are averaging 4.7 and 4.1 yards per carry. They have a trio of top HOF LBs that are sack machines. Their best wins are against #11 Death Valley Deadites, #16 Canisteo Bulldogs and #16 Louisiana ASSassins. Their only losses are to #2 Killer Kiwi’s, #3 Fear Factory and #7 Inner City Kids.

Live Oak Eagles Record: 10-5 Global: 251 Tier: 21
Owner: derek1222 GM: bankybruce HC: toddd240 OC: tremele (1 SHIP)
Roster: 38 with 7 S* QB, C, G, OT, WR & DE, CB

The Eagles have been outscored by opponents 21-28 in the last two games. The Eagles won their last Ladder against the #30 Flying Spaghetti Monsters 14-7. They are a 70 pass/12 run play calling mix team in League. Their HBs are averaging 2.2 and 1.2 yards per rush and the passing attack has a completion rate of 46.7% to go along with a 9.0% sack and 13.9% hurry rate. Their receiver drop rate is a sub-par 19.2%. In short, the Offense isn’t efficient enough, especially with 5 S*. The Eagles should be able to improve greatly on their offensive productivity at some point. Their best win is against #30 Flying Spaghetti Monsters. Their losses are against #3 Fear Factory, #4 Milwaukee Beers, #11 Boston Redcoats, #16 LA and #29 Tampa Bay Drunks.

Game comment:
Sexy has beaten everyone they’ve faced outside of three Top 10 Ladder teams. The Eagles have lost to everyone ranked #29 and better. Sexy has the better performance season to date. The Eagles still haven’t fixed their pass play calling and execution as they take way too many sacks and have too low a completion rate. Sexy’s LBs should have a field day blitzing and staying at the top of the HOF. This could be a blowout. The pick is Sexy.

12: #8 Winnipeg Wrath 12-3 vs. #25 Sydney Wombats 10-5

Winnipeg Wrath Record: 12-3 Global: 232 Tier: 8
Owner: glwarriors (2 SHIPs) GM: kswass (2 SHIPs) aGM: Kurt Davey HC: BadgerPhil (2 SHIPs)
Roster: 42 with 3 S* QB, HB, HB

Winnipeg has outscored opponents 83-21 in the last two games and have 6 shutouts on the season. Winnipeg has found their stride going 11-1 after a 1-2 start. Last Ladder they beat the #28 Providence Radicals 41-14. They are a pure rushing attack. They balance inside and outside runs well. Their QB is averaging 7 yards per carry and the HBs are at 4.6, 4.1 and 3.6. Their best wins are against #4 Milwaukee Beers and #24 Ground Assault. They have losses against #1 LogZilla Boys, #9 Sarasota Swordfish and #27 Sandy Cheeks.

Sydney Wombats Record 10-5 Global: 256 Tier: 25
Owner: kidalb3rt GM: arcjedi
Roster: 42 with 1 CPU (down from 6 CPU)

The Sydney Wombats have been outscored by their opponents 39-63 in the last two games. They have one shutout on the season. The Wombats are an almost pure rushing team that uses QB Rollout. Last Ladder they lost to #7 Inner City Kids 3-35. The Wombats are short a G and an OT on the OLine, which is all run blocking (still). They should cut the CPU on D and get a G/OT, even if it’s a CPU. Running teams need fresh blockers. They also have 6 WR on the roster, only 1 is a Dominator and there are a lot of Speedsters on a team that seems like it wants to run the ball a lot. Their QBs are averaging 10.1 and 10.6 yards per rush with their HBs at 3.5 and 3.6. Their best win is against #31 Allentown Assassins. They have losses to #2 Killer Kiwi’s, #7 Inner City Kids, #21 IBP, #33 Newcastle Butchers and #51 Missouri Mammoth.

Game comment:
Winnipeg is a run only team that has beaten other top run only teams in the Beers and GA. Sydney is a run only team but doesn’t have the impressive wins that WW has, particularly in this style. WW has the roster, S* talent, SHIPs and direct experience to shutdown Sydney and roll to a big win. Sydney started off strong but their roster is catching up with them, in my view, and they shouldn’t pose much of a challenge to WW.

13: #3 Fear Factory 14-1 vs. #13 Rangers Reborn 11-2-2

Fear Factory Record: 14-1 Global: 220 Tier: 3
Owner: temujin83 (1 SHIP) GM: HayRow (4 SHIPs) OC: MrPicklez DC: mrm708 (2 SHIPs)
Roster: 40 with 6 S* QB, HB, TE, WR & DT, DT

Fear Factory has outscored opponents 70-3 in the last 2 games and has 6 shutouts on the season. They are a pure rushing team of 1 rQB and 2 HB. Their QB is averaging 7.4 yards per carry and the HBs are at 3.5 and 3.6. They use QB Rollout and then pound HBs inside. Their OLBs are sack machines. Last Ladder they beat the #19 Draco Dragons 21-3. Their best wins are against #10 Sexy Dance Fighters, #4 Milwaukee Beers, #24 Ground Assault, #6 Mykonos Hoplites and #21 Live Oak Eagles. Their only loss is to #1 LogZilla Boys.

Rangers Reborn Record: 11-2-2 Global: 237 Tier: 13
Owner: RazzleDazzle GM: Danthesportsman (4 SHIPs) aGM: Mordaloch (1 SHIP)
Roster: 42 with 4 S* FB, OT, DT, SS

The Rangers have been outscored by opponents by 45-47 in the last two games and have 7 shutouts on the season. They are a 50 pass/ 43 run play calling mix in League games. They are very balanced with inside/outside runs. Last Ladder they lost to #1 LogZilla Boys 14-31. Their HB running attack averages 4.1 and 3.5 yards per carry, with their rQB at 8.9 yards per rush. Their passing attack has a completion rate of 48.6%, a hurry rate of 10.6% and a sack rate of 11.0%, and with a drop rate of an astounding 20.8%! Their best win is against #18 Coruscant Imperial Forces. They have two ties against #41 Oklahoma Outlaws and #6 Mykonos Hoplites. Their only losses are against #1 LogZilla Boys and #25 Default Name.

Game comment:
The Rangers have a solid team with strong leadership, yet I feel they are lacking signature wins. They only have one win against a Top 25 team and yet tied the #6. They seem intent on building a balanced offense and it seems like they are going through some growing pains to get as their avg rushing yards and pass efficiency are weak. They’ve made up for it on D with shutouts. Going up against FF is a tall order as they are going to play very strong D. This could be a game where it’s the Rangers that get shutout. It’ll probably be a low scoring affair, but I think FF will score 14-17 points and the Rangers will struggle to get to 10. Pick is FF.

14: #5 Compton Regulators vs. #19 NJ Surge 9-4-2

Compton Regulators Record: 13-2 Global: 229 Tier: 5
Owner: Dark_Fate (1 SHIP)
Roster: 43 with 1 S* OT with 2 CPU (still)

Compton Regulators have outscored opponents 58-0 in the last two games and have five shutouts on the season. Last Ladder they beat the #16 Louisiana ASSassins. They are primarily a rushing team that throws some. They favor outside runs (QB Rollout). Their QB has a 7.6 yard average with the HBs at 3.9 and 3.7. Compton’s best wins are against #6 Mykonos Hoplites, #23 Central Falcons and #19 Draco Dragons. Their only losses are against #2 Killer Kiwi’s and #33 Newcastle Butchers.

New Jersey Surge Record: 9-4-2 Global: 249 Tier: 19
Owner: bcota91 (1 SHIP) GM: excalibur143 (1 SHIP) aGM: Barret (2 SHIPs)
Roster: 40 with 2 S* QB, DT

The Surge have outscored opponents 26-3 in the last two games and have 3 shutouts on the season. The Surge are primarily a pass team that can easily be all pass or up to 1/3 run. Their play calling mix in League is 41 pass/ 20 run, though they’ve gone all pass in some Ladder games. The Surge’s passing game is at a 44.4% completion rate, with a hurry rate of 18.6% and a sack rate of 19.6% (wow!), and with a drop rate of 19.3%. Their QB averages 4.9 yards per rush, while their HBs are at 1.7 and 2.8. Their best win is against #9 Sarasota Swordfish. Their losses are against #48 Blue Ridge Moonshine Club, #91 Fart Wafters, #4 Milwaukee Beers, and #41 Oklahoma Outlaws. They’ve tied #23 Central Falcons and #70 Santa Monica Mayhem.

Game comment: I keep expecting Compton to lose more games than they have because I’m obviously over-estimating the number of teams that know how to stop a QB Rollout offense. Here’s a tip: Middle Overload doesn’t. The New Jersey Surge are a restart of a successful team that went through Rookie and Soph just recently. I’d like to think they’d know how to stop outside runs, but then again, I wouldn’t have thought they’d have the losses that they do here in early Rookie. So the calculus is that the Surge have a better roster with more S* talent and coaches with more SHIPs. Then again, these same coaches dedicate a third of their offensive plays towards an anemic running game. Compton has performed better season to date. My usual MO would cause me to pick talent and SHIPs, but I guess I need to curse Compton into losing, so I’ll go with them for this game.

16: #1 LogZilla Boys 14-1 vs. #11 Boston Redcoats 12-3

LogZilla Boys Record: 14-1 Global: 216 Tier: 1
Owner: Xars (6 SHIPs)
Roster: 41 with 2 S* QB, WR

LogZilla Boys have outscored opponents 56-21 in the last two games and have two shutouts on the season. Last Ladder, the Boys beat the #13 Rangers Reborn 31-14. The LogZilla Boys are an all-pass team that is almost exclusively a 3WR Corner Threat & TE Post offense. The LZ Boys are at a completion rate of 53.1%, a hurry rate of 6.9% and a 4.1% sack rate with only a 15.9% drop rate. Their best wins are against the #3 Fear Factory, #16 Canisteo Bulldogs, #13 Rangers Reborn, #11 Death Valley and #8 Winnipeg Wrath. Their only loss is to #16 Louisiana ASSassins.

Boston Redcoats Record 12-3 Global: 235 Tier: 11
Owner: Morphar (1 SHIP) GM: Bongbongo aGM: Evil Sports Agent (2 SHIPs) HC: HayRow (4 SHIPs)
Roster: 39 with 6 S* QB, FB, OT & DT, DE, DE

The Redcoats have outscored opponents 49-0 in the last two games and have six shutouts on the season (four in a row too!). They won their last Ladder against the #33 Newcastle Butchers. The Redcoats are a primary rushing team with a 46 run /21 pass play calling mix in League play. While they can be balanced, they usually favor inside runs significantly. They rushing attack is led by their QB averaging 7.7 yards per carry with their HBs at 4.6 and 3.6 and their FB at 2.5. Their passing attack has a 51% completion rate, a hurry rate of 17.2% and sack rate of 16.5% (those are both high) and a drop rate of 19.2% (again, high). Their best wins are against the #16 Louisiana ASSassins and the #21 Live Oak Eagles. Their losses are to the #37 Carolina Pirates, #4 Milwaukee Beers and #14 Las Vegas Vipers.

Game comment: The Redcoats have hit their mid-season stride as they move back up the ladder with four straight shutouts. They’ve moved to more inside running in 4WR sets. They’ve gone to an 80-90% rushing attack over the last two Ladder games and have improved their once lackluster scoring. Will they stick to their recent MO and continue spamming inside runs out of 4WR? Or is HayRow going to change things up and force me to play rock, paper, scissors and try to guess what’s next after I spammed outside run D against FF? It’ll probably be a strength against strength matchup. As they say in Fantasy Football, “stick with your studs”. Boston will probably pound the inside run and we’ll see if the LogZilla D can hang tough. It’s going to be a very tough matchup. Boston has the edge on roster talent and SHIPs, while the Boys have performed slightly better and have more quality wins. All that’s meaningless. It’s a coin-flip game with probably a slight edge to Boston on paper, but I’m a biased NY Yankee fan and there’s only one thing we care about, “Beat Boston!” Pick is the Boys in a thriller.

17: #6 Mykonos Hoplites 12-2-1 vs. #23 Central Falcons 9-4-2

Mykonos Hoplites Record: 12-2-1 Global: 230 Tier: 6
Owner: ryokeley12
Roster: 43 with 5 S* DT, DT, DT, DE, DE

Mykonos Hoplites have outscored opponents 62-7 in the last 2 games and have 7 shutouts on the season. Mykonos is a primary pass team that has a 56 pass /23 run play calling mix in League. They have gone from running 4WR sets with HB Dives/ Slams and the 4WR Unders/ Hooks/ Slants combo to running more pure Hooks across multiple WR sets and then to what’s that I see – TE Post and Corner Threat spam in the last Ladder game? Last Ladder they beat #27 Sandy Cheeks 28-7. The Mykonos passing attack is at a completion rate of 53.3%, a hurry rate of 7.6% and a 6.2% sack rate with a 19.4% drop rate. Their best win is against #21 Iron Brigade Phalanx. They tied #13 Rangers Reborn. Their only losses are to #3 Fear Factory and #5 Compton Regulators.

Central Falcons Record: 9-4-2 Global: 253 Tier: 23
Owner: Spastic_Cowboy
Roster: 43

The Central Falcons have beaten GA 10-6 and lost to Default Name 3-17 in the last two games. They have seven shutouts on the season. Last Ladder they lost to #25 Default Name 3-17. They are a 36 pass/ 41 run play calling mix in League and are balanced with inside/outside run mix. The Falcons leading HBs are averaging 3.4 and 4.2 yards per carry. Their passing attack is at a 45.0% completion rate, a hurry rate of 9.6% and a sack rate of 12.5% with a drop rate of 16.1%. The Falcon’s best win is against #24 Ground Assault. They have tied #19 NJ Surge and #58 SF Indians. Their losses are against #5 Compton Regulators, #11 Death Valley Deadites, #25 Default name and #21 Iron Brigade Phalanx.

Game comment: Why the Hoplites run as much as they do is a mystery to me when their passing attack is so good. The Falcons have a below average passing attack and an average running attack. They’ve clawed their way up the Ladder and their last win against GA is their best so far this season. Are they hitting their stride? The Hoplites have been experimenting with different passing mixes, but it ends up all the same – big victories. While both teams suffer from a lack of quantity wins against the Top25, the Hoplites have the edge there and then they have a loaded roster of 5 S* and quality performances so far this season. The Hoplites have only lost to Top10 teams and I think that continues here. Pick is Hoplites.

21: #9 Sarasota Swordfish 12-3 vs. #25 Default Name 10-5

Forget the write-up as this can be summed up easily.

GG i guess to the rangers...don't know how gameplans can be really effective to the score of 14-3 first quarter and then just flop the rest of the game...pretty irked, oh well

our safety got stuck on a rail too, which was the only reason that winning 53 yard TD run happened. Oh well, happens to everyone!

GG Beers, was really close but like you said, our D was able to stop yall just short of the endzone a couple times and it paid off. I think there could be many rematches in our future. Keep up the nice work.
