WIN LOSS TIE
Live Oak Eagles 6 0 0
Inner City 5 1 0
Tampa Bay 4 1 1
Philadelphia 4 2 0
Olaf's 4 2 0
Las Vegas 3 2 1
BBBG 2 4 0
Newcastle 2 4 0
The Farts 2 4 0
Sunday 1 5 0
Pain Nation 1 5 0
Tecmo Bowl 1 5 0

Just a little breakdown of all divisions together. Looks like Inner City has the "inner track" to run away with this league unless someone can shut down that running game. Why not the Eagles? Read on.

Tampa Bay got edged by Philadelphia today which flipped these rankings up a bit and counts as Philadelphia's first league win against a team with a winning record, so that puts them on the map. Tampa hasn't lost their teeth though, and an admission by DeeVee8 that he hasn't been game planning as hard as he could have been may result in a redoubled effort to dominate the league.

Olaf started off the season playing Inner City and Tampa Bay and lost convincingly to both teams. Has their passing offense woken up enough to take on the top tier opponents in the league? The proof is in the pudding as Olaf has yet to play many of the middle tier opponents. Upcoming game against the Fart's will say a lot.

The Eagles sport an impressive 6-0 record, albeit against the entire lower half of the league, and some of those games were too close for comfort. So we'll see if that momentum keeps up or if they hit a snag with the higher tier opponents. The Eagles hit the grinder facing Tampa Bay on the 18th, Olaf on the 21st, Philadelphia on the 24th, and Inner City on the 27th. How this turns out is anyone's guess, but we know the Eagles have a fighters chance in every one of these games.

So let's hear it... what are your "way too early" predictions? Who do you think will be the surprise playoff contender? What two teams will play in the championship? Who turns their fate around and finishes with a winning record?

To be fair, almost NO ONE can stop a custom designed QB run offense in this game unless they literally designed their whole defense to counter it. It's one of the Achilles heels of this game.

I know...its a bit ridiculous and here is to hoping they fix it up a little.

Agreed. I'll crack a beer open to that.

A defender has to do way too many things to be able to adequately defend an outside route like that when offensive players can specialize on just a couple things and poof- the QB is sprung free for huge gains every time.

Frankly, I think if they just made "break run block" more effective it would adequately balance it out a bit.

There are some ways to stop it. If there weren't, Dee and I would have shiny trophy .gifs from last season and a #1 team right now.

It's damn hard, takes good builds, the right (and somewhat counterintuitive) tactics, and your O needs to be up to snuff. But it's not impossible.

We cant completely stop it ourselves but we can limit it to 1 or 2 random 15-20 yard gains per game. Most others we get a tackle for a loss or keep them under 8 yards. So yea its tough to stop but not impossible. Oh and you guys passed very well i thought. Ive still not mastered the art of stopping the pass, but maybe it will get better as our players do. GG to everyone we have played this season.

Yeah, Sapphire can thank it's lucky stars that the Drunks didn't go with a rQB centered O. That is What I've been building and coordinating since S8 of classic. I'm giving passing a shot. :/ It's going okay. It will get better and more viable for victory for us in the next couple of seasons.

Ive seen maybe 1 really good passing game in rookie and it was a lot more than i expected. As the seasons go by, passing will continue to get harder and harder to stop, because eventually the blitz seems to stop working and you have to play coverage. At that point it becomes a crap shoot, just a matter of winning your rolls.

Sure. I'm not trying to come across as a whiner at all. I know it's "possible" to stop those outside runs. But you have to have secret knowledge of what GLB2 plays magically work against it... as opposed to real football where you would scheme it differently.

I just think GLB2 struggles sometimes to find a nice balance between being a football sim and a video game.

Maybe it's just because I'm a defensive guy, and I hate not having the kind of customization I need over my defense to make it successful.

That... and when I see those defenders take those crappy angles on defense to defend an outside run it drives me batty. haha
