After there was no preview for game 3, I decided to take a shot at a preview for game 4. We are heading to intra-division games, so we all should have a better idea, which teams we are facing.

Boston Redcoats (3-0) vs. Busan Giants (2-1)
Matchup: http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/1092/1096
Boston showed a strong defensive and offensive performance in the first set of the division games. They sit on top of the alpha division and don’t seem to go anywhere. I guessed North Texas and Draco as division winner (beta) and wildcard team (in any combination) before the season started. The Giants beat both of them in close games, just to lose to Kansas City. All three games were we decided by a TD or less. I don’t think it will be that close against Boston.

My prediction: Boston by 2+TDs (personal bias included )

Result: 13-10 (Way closer than I expected...)

Blue Mountain State Goats (2-1) vs. Draco Dragons (1-2)
Matchup: http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/1090/1097
The Goats did everything they could to get in a position to fight for the wildcard spot as the #2 team in alpha. They are a wild combination of a bunch of S*s and a CPU-robot army. Draco (still no name change?) is in early trouble as one of my favorites to win the league or at least the beta division. They are sitting at 1-2 after the division games.

My prediction: The Goats will hit a wall, or a fence, or whatever goats run at. Draco wins.

Result: 0-7

Oakland Outlaws (1-2) vs. Flying Spaghetti Monsters (1-2)
Matchup: http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/1091/1101
Looking at the matchup, this game puts the worst defense (Oakland) against the second worst offense (Monsters) and the second worst offense (Oakland) against the worst offense (Monsters). It doesn’t get worse than that, matchup-wise. Both teams won the initial game, just to lose the next 2, both teams have some roster spots filled by CPU players. The Monsters have 2 S*s, that might tip the scale towards them. The best thing of this game is, that one team will snap its losing streak.

My prediction: Could very well end in a scoreless tie… But I guess Monsters (just because of the S*s), but it could go either way. Will be a close one.

Result: 0-34 (Just as I expected, a close back and forth... Wait, it wasnt?)

New Jersey Blaze (0-3) vs. Las Vegas Vipers (1-2)
Matchup: http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/1093/1099
New Jersey hasn’t won a game this season (including ladder games) and they really weren’t close to win one in the league. They are the only winless team in the league and having a CPU-kicker as your #2 threat speaks volumes IMO. Las Vegas hasn’t scored a TD yet, but was able to make the 6 points count they scored so far in league games. I hope New Jersey can find a way to win a game or two this season, but I don’t think Las Vegas is the team that will lose to them.

My prediction: Las Vegas wins and scores there first TD of the season.

Result: 10-31 (Las Vegas won, Las Vegas scored its first TD, spot on)

Traverse City Voltage (1-2) vs. Kansas City Chaos (1-2)
Matchup: http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/1100/1094
The one-agent-Voltage was able to keep all three division games close, but could only win one. Voltage has a solid looking team and the team has won the last game, which might indicate a rising form. Kansas City has 3 S*s and seems to be on the rise as well, after cashing in their first victory. So we have two teams heading north. Still, I find the Kansas City victory over the (before the game) 2-0 Busan Giants more impressive.

My prediction: Close, but Kansas City delivers the blackout and wins.

Result: 0-3 (Kansas City wins it on a 46 yard FG. Sometimes the RNG is a b****)

Louisiana ASSassins (3-0) vs. North Texas Mean Greens (2-1)
Matchup: http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/1098/1095
The second 3-0 vs. 2-1 matchup. Louisiana has won all games in Gamma so far, struggling a bit against Voltage. Still they only allowed one TD so far. They have a really good team but North Texas will be the first real test. North Texas only lose, to this point, came by one point. Their team looks really good as well. So we might see a nail biter till the end.

My prediction: Always tough to bet against an unbeaten team, but I think Beta is way stronger than Gamma, so I tend towards North Texas. North Texas wins and spanks both asses of the AssASSins

Result: 14-7 (Betting against an undefeated team is always a bad idea... btw, my only wrong pick)

Very, very early playoff picture:
Alpha: Boston
Beta: Giants
Gamma: Louisiana
Wildcard: Goats/North Texas

I appreciate your faith in the Giants, but I'm just a solo dude pressing buttons. Managing a whole team solo is difficult, but there don't seem to be any coaches around.

I echo that. Learning as I go along. Hopefully get some good performances in.. More for the guys that have signed up than anything else.

Flying Spaghetti Monsters were simply not prepared for the Assassin's. I changed a few things in the gameplan, but it's clear I'd need a whole new playbook against them. I feel optimistic about my chances in the next few games, simply because we're not playing the Assassin's.

My boys still can't score, but the D is good. Not bad for a team with no superstars. The retooled O and D seem to be working slightly better.

5-1, not bad IMO. Only wrong pick, while picking against an undefeated team.

Results included.

Right now 7 teams are 2-2. Beta is really close. Should be interesting to see, if this stays till the end of the season.

Assassins are ridiculous. Next weeks match-up is going to be huge.

Really weird game, 6(!) fumbles from us, a super random INT and a lot of dropped balls. Not really sure if it shows anything about the relative strengths of the teams when the RNG goes crazy like that
