Shouldn't be hard to code into play, but a symbol or some identifier on the home page where you can view players that will indicate that you have a player that has an expiring contract. I know for owners that don't have a ton of players not that big of a deal, but still would be more convenient at the player level to know if you have a player that doesn't have a contract sent or will become a free agent.
