We've faced this too. My OC from seasons 1-4 had to hang it up so I took over offense and picked up a DC. Then my DC just didn't have time to do what he needed to do so now I'm trying to do both. Fortunately I have a couple decent base offenses/defenses to pick from. I just have to pick the right base and make a few tweaks.

it was interesting, i saw from recent games that you guys were in a lot of coverage stuff and your overall success against the pass is good.

My QB, Dr. Grundleplith, is oddly built and is banging into his passing caps and it's starting to show in terms of completion percentages so I thought I'd try to use a ton of running and underneath passing to try and take advantage of the defensive scheme and try to avoid incompletion spirals.

Sar is our special teams coach and he's a moron so no wonder special teams got us behind (ha ha, he's a ivy league lawyer in real life so he's like 10x smarter than I am)

it was a good game,

I'm trying to decide if we can be competitive if I don't boost my guys and if i can find a QB to replace the doctor

There is a real talent to sculpting the offensive play calling - Sieg is really good at it - I suspect if I could have used his play calls we'd have done better but the current plan he had up was very pass-happy and that was what I was trying to avoid.

Well, we ended up doing slightly better than USC's prediction but not by much. We were getting our asses completely kicked for the first 2/3rds of the game, then made a furious comeback that fell short in the end. I think we've had 3 or 4 losses to pro teams where we were down by 7 or less, driving with the ball late in the 4th quarter and had time run out on us.

I'd feel bad for you, but then I remember I've lost 6 Pro ladder matchups by one possesion.

Edit: because you made me want to check our results...we've had 5 Pro losses by a TD or less, we might be able to steal that trophy away from you yet!

we basically had one defensive play against your 4 WR, and it was one of the worst ones to choose (the CBs play underneath more than other plays, so head fakes burned them easily, and it brings zilch pressure on the QB), so we toasted by the pass ALL day... especially since you used that same play out of the 4 WR pretty much the entire game

we've never given up anywhere near that many pass yards (I think our previous high was 400-something) or points in a ladder game (previous high for points given up was 45 last season when I wasn't even game-planning/active)... if we play you again, it'll be much closer. That was maybe the worst defensive scheme I've ever had for a game. Even an all-out blitz would have been more effective.
