Is it possible to run a zone defense on first and 10 and a man defense on 3rd and 10? This is out of the same package. If playing a team that runs every play on first down but passes on and long plays it would be nice to control this. I tried the zone% threshold in the AI but the zone fired regardless of the situation. This led to stuffing first down runs but getting torched on 3rd and long.
Yes you can.
Basically in the same 2WR or 4WR package what ever you want to do set the Man play and the Zone play.
In your tactics under 1st down set it 100% zone.
Under 3rd down set it 0% zone.
But this will do the same logic across all WR sets so be careful if you didn't want to run zone on 3WR or 5WR on 1st down as it will call zone.

Thanks, but that is how I had it set. It seemed to pick plays randomly out of my package rather than pick the zone or man.
Could it be because the type of play was over riding the zone setting? Example.
Spread
Plays:
2LB Fire-zone
2LB Fire-zone
3 LB fire-zone
Zero Edge Dogs-man
1st down: 30 inside run/ 70 outside run/ 100% zone/ 100% blitz
3rd and long: 10 pass medium/ 60 pass long/ 30 outside run/ 0% zone/ 100% blitz
3rd and long was still calling the same zone plays even though it was set to 0% zone. It should have called the Zero Edge Dogs. Zero Edge Dogs is a run play so that is all I can think of.

Yes. Since Zero Edge Dogs is a short pass/run defense it will never be called on 3rd down with those settings. The type of play (short/medium/long pass, etc.) takes priority over zone or blitz percentages.
Are you sure it was calling all the zone plays on 3rd and long? Based on those settings it seems like it would only call 3 LB fire because thats a medium pass defense whereas the other 2 zone plays are inside run defenses.

What about this one?
100% Short 0 Med 0 Long 0 Zone 100% Blitz.....2 plays for 4 Wide. 1 Zone and 1 Short Inside Run. Zone was called every time? I thought the Short Med Long had priority over the zone/man plays.
100% Short 0 Med 0 Long 0 Zone 100% Blitz.....2 plays for 4 Wide. 1 Zone and 1 Short Inside Run. Zone was called every time? I thought the Short Med Long had priority over the zone/man plays.

You are missing a lot of details about the plays. If the zone play is a short pass and blitz and the inside run is not a blitz then thats how its supposed to work.
Edit: And also, if you have 100% short pass why would you expect an inside run play to fire?

It does? Damnit! I had assumed it was the other way around. Blitz % first, then it would take the closest matching play. I was about to submit something to bugs, since Blitz % was at 100 but it kept doing Man Base on 3rd & Med/Long/Very Long.

Well I didn't expect Zone to be called either and it was. I was trying to figure out which tactics had priority. I thought the 100% Short would match better than Long 3-4WR Pass Zone Defense since I had 0 Long and 0 Zone. Know what I mean?
