I've heard mixed information on this, and wondering if anyone can shed some light.

For a blocking focus FB, does Run Block Awareness serve any purpose, or does Lead Blocking Awareness cover it, as all a FB's blocks will be lead blocks?

Create two FB dots. Put all the initial points into one or the other. Play some scrims. Observe. Retire. You'll probably have a good answer.

Lead Block Awareness - used any time a blocker is running to pick up potential defenders

Run Block Awareness - used any time a blocker has one or more defenders heads up on them at the start of a play, is stopped and looking for someone to block, has no other assignment they could be doing when one of their teammates has the ball.

The really easy way to think of this is to look at offense plays and any time you see a players with just a short T as their assignment, they're run blocking. If it's a long pathed T, the entire time they're on the path it's lead blocking and the end of the path is run blocking.

Oh, and for a FB, it's 9 out of 10 times going to be lead blocking

Gotcha. So really, FBs need both.
