Had my CB sitting as a FA (not on a CPU team) I got an offer from a team today, but now I am wondering if I screwed up, will that dot never make up the XP lost from not playing a game so far this season?

His career is based on Games Played -- so you can NOT make that up and get extra games at the end...
Also - typically in the offseason (I think) there is a "catch up exp" button - which would catch you up at seasons end.
