You see this all the time, the D gets between the QB and the HB and the QB pitches the ball right through the D player.

Don't make it automatic, but at least give the D player the chance to disrupt the pitch.

Better yet, just let them intercept it on an easy roll (since it's a pitch that's meant to be easy to catch) and then run with it.

Of course, you then need to fix o line blocking so not quite so many plays involve blitzing LB's being given a clean shot into the backfield...

Clearly he lobbed it over his head.

That was a DE. A DE that is designed not to be blocked because the OT is pulling, giving more down field blockers or outside blockers. If anyone should pick up the DE, it is the FB.

If the FB isn't scripted to go to a certain place, this is entirely possible, you just need to remove the scripted blocking on the FB to allow him to pick up the blitzer.

See. I played the DE/OLB hybrid way back when, and even though I'm only 6'1", if a QB is trying to lob a pitch over my head, either I'm going to get it, or the guy on offense who goes up to get it is waiting so long for it to come back down he's getting my shoulder planted in his gut and is going to be less than happy with the QB's setting him up to get killed.

Yeah, that's one of those situations where the QB doesn't risk the toss and keeps it.

I don't think pitches will change honestly. Mainly because I've assumed the pitch play is borked on purpose to lure in the pass rushers to give the outside run an easier time. If it's not, it's broken because defenders do not begin a man aware check until the pitch has been 100% transferred to the runnning back. It essentially makes pitches mini-screen passes.

You would think because it takes an aware check to go from QB->HB that OP with all of his GLB experience would know this huh?
