Doesnt matter. You can still learn from FM. If it can be applied to a game, it doesnt matter what genre the game is. Im surprised with the linear mentality in here.

I highly recommend you to start do coaching and stuff. Coaching is completely Flex Point free, so find someone who is willing to let you test stuff and find out, that this is pretty much the most fun

Go find a rookie team in need of a coach. It doesn't matter if you suck at first (see: Lost Lounge, season 2, first three games). It's a lot more fun, especially once you start to figure things out.
And even on teams where you don't coach. Get on the team forum and give feedback with what you're seeing. Sure, not all owners/coaches pay attention, but the ones that do and the other players will start to have fun with it.

Logging in spending points and logging out doesn't sound like it was a fun game to begin with. I mean some people ya know, watch the games and stuff.
