For Season 2 he was at a respectable 51% for Receptions Allowed as a percentage of Targets. Things could only get better, right? Granted, other builds are getting better too, but have I made a mistake and made my CB too balanced? He's now at 60% for Receptions Allowed, and PDs have dropped slightly. Obviously my intent was to try and get PDs to increase.

The CB performs very well in Shirts vs Skins games, but in games that matter it can get ugly, with either the CB leading the WR down field by a few yards, or reacting slowly when the WR cuts back for a pass -- the typically CB game flaws. This became more of a problem around gameday 15 of this season, and I've been spending points trying to overcome it with no real success.

Thoughts? What can I do to fix him?

Here's how my CB's build evolved over the past 10 or so game days (with more expensive attributes costing 500+ nothing has moved very much)

Man Coverage Awareness 75 to 81
Coverage Tech 80 to 83 (now capped)
Deflecting 60
Defensive Consistency 34 to 54
Quickness 50 to 52
Footwork 46 to 49
Sprinting 40
Balance / Vertical / Diving / Conditioning / Heart 33 to 38

Has Level 2 on Third Down Stopper (+7 to CovTech and Deflection, +3 to Quickness) but that hasn't made him immune to getting exposed on 3rd downs.

Not enough quickness and footwork. Possibly not enough conditioning and toughness. Is he doing ok in the first half and suffering later in games?

And, 60% isn't a bad number. That's probably about what you can expect from a non superstar CB against better teams. Especially if your guy is getting the tougher route assignments.

I would say that the suffering is fairly evenly spread out.

While the plan is to get both Quickness and Footwork higher, right now they are costing 800+ and 500+, so if I'd brought Quickness to 58 and Footwork to 55 that would have used up about 7,500 training points that I couldn't have spent on other things. Have I really misspent between 18 and 30 points so far? I guess spending on Defensive Consistency could have been the mistake...

Regarding player attributes, I thought MA, CT, Def and DC were to help the player "know what was going on" whereas the physical ones help him respond. Reviewing his plays it looks to me like he is late figuring out what is going on... and not just late getting there to break it up.

You mentioned Toughness, and ya it is on the low side but I think it's ok as he's not involved in much tackling. Morale stays in the 90s for most of the game. Are you suggesting that his lack of toughness could be knocking him off his game?

I see that your boy Scrub is doing about the same this season as last. Care to share any secrets, like how he is making all those interceptions? Or are you going to wait until after the next ladder match?

I don't believe I have any secrets at all. I am just matching our corners up against the other teams best players.
