...but, I currently have a team and he won't have said player till the end of the season, is there a time period in which he can build this player and then have them 'catch up' to the current level of the teams players? Is this possible??

Assuming this person can't create their Superstar until the offseason, no. You can't skip the rookie season, unless something VERY buggy happens.

The reason I asked is that the system gave me my superstar points on the last day of the season after each player hit the 5th star. Then, there was a day or so in between the seasons... or even half a day. And, there was a 'catch up' feature at the end of last season, so I was wondering if the created them at that time and had the catch up feature then they would be the proper level... no?
