You don't need to change the length of the season. There are plenty of teams in the NFL and college that don't play each other during the regular season. It would make the playoffs that much more exciting if you were matched up with a team that you didn't play in the regular season.

If you have another division, you can still play every team in your division twice and have a 3 week playoff without modifying the length of the season. Currently, there are 14 regular season games (each team in your division twice and all the other teams once) and a 2 week playoff. Just change it to 13 regular season games and 3 week playoff.

Each team would still play their division opponents twice (6 games) and then randomly choose 7 out of division opponents.

Tough...happens all the time in NFL and college. Plus you can say the same thing right now about teams that play in hard divisions.

I like the way the leagues and seasons are currently designed. If you want to guarantee a spot in the playoffs, win your division. The "best teams don't make the playoffs" argument is silly when you're not the best team in your own division.

Dookie is going to go 13-1 and lose the championship game for the foreseeable future.

There are two top 10 ladder teams in Cobra and 2 top 25 teams, although the rest of the league after that is pretty bad. Any of those 4 teams can win in a single game elimination playoff.
