Why does my team call a goal line defense play when the ball is on the opponents 20 yard line? And how do I stop it?

The Offense is running a play out of the goal line formation, so the defense is using the plays from the Goal Line D set in your playbook.

Put plays in your Goal Line D set and use your tactics to stop this.

So they only way to stop this is to remove all goal line defences from the goal line defence section?

This seems like an exploit that should be fixed. The defence should not call a goal line defence unless they are actually with in 5(3?) yards of their goal line.

Um, all your defense calls are tied to how the offense lines up.

Thing is, you can put ANYTHING on any page of your playbook. Want to run a goalline D against 5 WR's? Go for it. Want to run a quarter D against offense goalline? Again, totally up to you.

However, what you absolutely cannot do is leave a section blank. 'Tis muiy naughtyo.

And no, it's not an exploit for the offense to line up in an ultimate power run formation. It just means that you, as a DC, have absolutely certain knowledge that they will be running. Pick the plays you think will counter runs.

Oh, and protip: Don't choose anything that's actually a goalline defense formation as your goalline defense.

It's how the sim is designed. The offense decide to use a Goal Line formation which has 0 WR and you're responding with a GL Play so working as designed. If you remove all your GL Defense the sim will select a random play which would cause you more harm.

His point, however, is valid.
