Not on the depth chart? Only thing I can think of.

Losing teams scored 7 points combined today. Yikes.

This league is heavy on top, with little middle ground.

Any advice on how to improve? I noticed that Victorious was running (what appears to be considered on the forum) an 'exploity' defense, so I actually copied their defensive strategy almost exactly. It wasn't nearly as effective for us though - so I'm guessing it comes down to mostly player build?

DAG is easily countered by Inside Runs.

Nothing "exploit-y" about my defense. Unless by "exploit-y" you mean incredibly effective.

And yes, builds are crucial, and especially matching builds to the defense you run.

There are a myriad of documented ways to counter DAG. I OC as well as DC, and I love facing DAG defenses. Its a blast. That's why its no longer an exploit-y defense.

On another rookie team (6-0, given up 21 points this season) I run DAG a lot. It's my go to blitz for more than 2 WR. I balance it out by running more standard plays.

It's been nerfed against the passing game. The blitzes don't seem to get home nearly as often; even good QBs didn't get the ball off nearly as quickly last season. I used to count during the replays and it took about 4 seconds for the LBs to reach the QB. The QB really struggled to get the ball out. It's taking the LBs maybe half a second longer on average now, and sometimes its a CB that blitzes as well. QBs are also getting rid of the ball quicker, and seem to be rolling out the "right" way. So DAG is less effective.

It's still pretty awesome when you know somebody's going to pass though.

You're using one specific play to handle many situations that it is not intended to by using the new game mechanic i.e. you are exploiting that game mechanic. I'm not saying you did something wrong, and I'm not complaining - it's semantics, really.

They gave up some bad inside runs, but not that many... this was my reference material:

I love playing DAG defense, its the easiest defense to beat if the team relies on it as their only source.

the halfback didnt make a single play. DAG was rampant last season, my hb duo would rip up a DAG defense for 200-400 yards a game last season if you have issues running against this defense then you need to check offensive builds

I never said I had problems with the defense, although you tangentially answered my real question anyway.

I agree that this league is pretty good competition wise. I just played a 3-1 first place team from another league and beat them badly in a beat down, including also beating them 2 out of 3 times in scrimmages as well. (3-1 in 4 games.)

But yet I am a 3rd place team in this tough league, while that team is a "first place" team in some garbage league apparently.

Here is an example of the beat-down that took place in which my kicker kicks it off, sprints down the field, tackles the return guy and forces a fumble.

David Akers Karate School is the best kicker in the league. and the funny part is, I only made him after replacing some other guy that didnt want to work on his build and claimed all rookie kickers were "bad".
