Eh, I'm watching Tampa Bay murder GL defenses with HB Pitch Strong and QB Rollout in rookie. They're not nearly as nasty against teams running 3-3-5 and 5-2 stuff (non GL 5-2).

No

We were talking about it before the game.

It may have turned into a DAG v DAG fest, but if you overall look at his DAG usage it wasn't as bad,
both teams just helped the other fire DAG by running 3 and 4wr plays almost exclusively.

yes they are.... even a freaking Cover 4 is better against goalline than the weak goalline defenses we were given.

They're just jelly.

And prolly some nasty kind of jelly like marmalade (which, okay, isn't technically jelly, but that's what they are)

DAG is not as good vs. GL. Anyone who is running that is really dumb.

And this is why so many teams lose. They miss the details. I promise you my defense doesn't run DAG all the time specifically because as Jampy blabbed to everyone, we can beat it. However, DAG is really good versus 3 WR sets, and solid against 4WR.

Guess what D2.0 runs a lot of? In fact, if I had to guess, they do so specifically because they're a run first team, and you can beat DAG with HB pitch plays. They also have some pass plays out of 3WR, tho. That meant that while DAG was still my best blitz when they go 3WR, I needed to change something so they didn't break off 30...40...whatever yard TD's when they called a HB pitch from 3 WR's.

Anyway, if you go and watch what my defense actually did for that game involved different plays for different formations and situations, and by being very careful with what types of plays I stick in my playbook, I can get a pretty close matchup via the tactics calls with the exact play I want for a situation. I've also been pushing my guys to change a few things in their builds the last few games to match up better when the sim did decide to put us in DAG vs a HB pitch.

And lastly, there were some sekrit skwerril things I did that I'm not telling never no way!

Sorry I didn't give it time to see what else you ran.

This is a better game to see what my defense is usually like:

http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/game/16709

1st defensive play - 2WR - Zero LB Dogs (not even ZEB)
2nd defensive play - 4WR (ya know, where most teams run DAG all the time) - Under Sam Mike Blitz 1
3rd defensive play - who cares it's long yardage - DAG

Like I said, if you play against my D, and don't want to see DAG, don't run 3WR's in passing situations.

Actually, most of my packages are 4 plays, and I use tactics to get as close to the call for the specific play I want as possible.

In that game, DADDY is a passing team, so you'll have to hunt to find the two run-stopping plays per package as the tactics were heavily skewed passing D's.

(this is also why I consider balanced teams to be the biggest pain in the @$$...it's nearly impossible to pull off that trick)

Just to pitch in with a bit of nerdy research I started. I wanted to see what Ds Championship teams were running. I started in Cheetah League. Las Vegas Outlaws won running only 2 plays (DAG and ZEB)
Cobra League - Maine Snails won using only 3 plays (none of which were DAG or ZEB), Cover 2 Man Under, 2 Man Under and Cover 1 FS Robber
Cougar league - Erkener Razorbacks - pretty varied but only 5 or 6 plays got called
Eagle League - Cucamonga Squirels - again pretty varied 5 or 6 plays called
Gorilla League - Queen City Brewers. - Very varied, gave up counting.

Then I gave up. So, in two cases, not running many plays seems to work for some.

It doesn't tell us how to stop DAG, but it seems like a playbook can be fairly restricted and still work.

mak, the evidence showed DAG and ZEB didn't win many champs

Agreed. It's more that you can run a quite limited playbook and be successful whether its DAG or not.

Still doesn't answer the thread question though

Running a limited playbook is the only way to success....

If you don't know what's going to fire how do you stop certain offenses?
