Receiver catches the ball out of bounds. Not the end of the world, but could be frustrating in a real game and since it is an error in the code somewhere I might as well report it.

You are joking right? It is not hard to tell. On the line is out of bounds, and he is on the wrong side of the line.

The defender is, yeah, but the ball isn't judged based on the defender.

The error might be that the code is based on the ball, not the WR who is clearly out of bounds. I don't understand why you are even discussing if it should have been a catch. There is no room for doubt.

But as I said, small issue (but 100% a bug in your game that should be fixed)

From observation over many games, it doesn't matter where the graphical body parts of any of the players are. That doesn't determine anything and is just for looks. You have to base it on the center of the shadow of the player. So basically, under the sprites, it's just sideways dotball. The sprites feet were definitely, unarguably, out of bounds. But it goes by the center of his shadow - but his feet, and everything other part, is just for show.

After watching the replay closely again, I'd also have to say that the sideline is coded for the outside of the white line to be out of bounds. That is the only bug here. Even the center of the shadow was over the inside of the white out of bounds line. It may not have been outside of the far side of the line, it was close, but the sideline is clearly and obviously coded incorrectly.

replays arent exact. it is just to give us an idea of what is going on. ever see guys run over the placeholder and the ball and the kicker still hits the FG?

I just wanted to alert them of it. This was a meaningless scrim, but I can easily see someone getting pretty frustrated by a play like that in the playoffs.
