Black Ice en Fuego @ Northwest Storms.....These are the 2 teams that have been most consistent all season long. Earlier in the season, Northwest beat Black Ice 14-7 on the same field, while holding Black Ice to a measly 128 total yards of offense. This makes sense since Northwest seems to have a top offense AND defense while Black Ice has a great defense (held Northwest to 282 yards)and just enough offense to get by. While the Black Ice passing game isn't very feared, the ground game can punish opposing defenses at times. If Black Ice is to win this game it will most likely be because their rushing attack controlled the game from start to finish.
Statistically, Northwest is the better team and should win as they have almost all season long. But Black Ice has proven to do just enough to win games, and can beat just about anyone at any time. In the last meeting, they were done in by being SACKED 17 times to match their 17 PASS ATTEMPTS. Look for the Black Ice QB's to get rid of the ball as quickly as possible this time around if they are to move the ball.
Last week, Northwest was in a long, drawn out slugfest with the Horde in which they played an extra half of football. How well they can recover from that will count for a lot in this game. Meanwhile, Black Ice coasted to a dominant victory over the Rattlers. Black Ice, earlier in the season overtook Rhode Island to take the top spot in their division, and this is their chance to take the league's top spot from the Storms, who have held it all season long. Will Black Ice come out on top, or does Northwest prove that their regular season was no fluke and take the League Championship home?
14-10.......BLACK ICE According to my Boxer, who had a Black Ice bone and a Storms bone both presented to him. After sniffing both bones and stepping back to drool on the floor for a moment, he came forward to again sniff both choices, and Black Ice was then chosen by him. The 85 pound lap dog has spoken.....err, eaten....and the inaugural Komodo League Championship can be expected to be encased in Black Ice for all of history.
