TT, what the hell are you talking about?
You get 50 FP for each referral.
At 5 referrals, you get a bonus of 250FP and 1 SS.
At 10 referrals, you get a bonus of 500FP and 2 SS.
At 15 referrals, you get a bonus of 750FP and 3 SS.
It's an unfortunate numeric coincidence that 5 referrals earns you 250FP just for the 50FP/referral, but don't conflate that with the reward given at 5 referrals.
Secondly, stop adding up the totals. That's NOT what exponential growth means. It's what Cornblade said, the "rate of the rate of change is increasing".
Flat rewards: At 5 referrals, you get a bonus of 1 SS. At 10 referrals, you get a bonus of 1 SS. At 15 referrals, you get a bonus of 1 SS.
This is NOT linear growth of rewards, this reward rate is 1 SS/5 referrals and the rate of change is 0. Just because you have a total of 1, then 2, then 3 has nothing to do with the rate of rewards you are getting.
Linear growth of rewards: At 5 referrals, you get a 1 SS bonus. At 10, you get 2 SS. At 15, you get 3 SS. The reward rate increases. The rate of the increase is 1SS per bonus given. The rate of the increase is constant and thus the rate of change in the rate of change is 0.
Exponential growth: At 5, you get 1SS. At 10, you get 2SS. At 15, you get 4 SS. The reward rate increases; it was 1, then 2, then 4. The rate of change increases; it was 1, then 2. That's exponential.
Now, 3 data points isn't enough to say for sure what's happening, especially with such small numbers that have to be rounded to a whole reward. So it's still quite possible the rate is exponential.
And, of course, this whole thread is kind of stupid because it's completely pedantic. But hey that's what we're here for.
Bottom line, it probably would have been nicer to actually publish a rewards table, at least for the first few reward tiers (enough to get to qualifying for a Superstar), just so people could have known what they were aiming for. But the SS promotion is just this season (from what i understand) so not a big deal as it will be obsolete in just a few days.
