Is there anyway to make this build fun? I have a DT that never gets pancaked and is always eating up his blocker, but this kind of boring. As in I find Offensive Lineman much more interesting than my non-pass rushing DT at this point. I never seem to shed blocks even though I've put quite a few points in this area. Pretty sure I am going to retire this guy at the end of the season and start anew, just wondering if there is any point to making a DT that is focused on stopping the run.

Fun?

Will be very fun when you shut down interior run games and your Safeties can meet the HB at the LoS because your DTs have pushed the Cs/Gs so far back.

Ignore the tackling for now and concentrate on getting your balance, sprinting, quickness, footwork, and snap reaction up. Also defensive consistency is pretty low.

Here's my counter to your build:

The plan is to start increasing the physical skills next.

What is more important for a dt, quickness or footwork? I first thought footwork, but I don't see the point of a dt backpeddaling, so quickness, but when does a dt need to change direction quickly if he is engaged with the center right away. Oh, by dt I mean nt

I personally have none of either on our run stopping DTs.
