Don't have whatever script it is I would need to analyze the underlying data, but it "appears" that the ball bounces in bounds before going out. If so, the punter should field it rather than run past it out of bounds.

FWIW, I've seen returner "shifting" a lot more while ball is in the air today... moving back and forth between two spots on field before deciding where the ball will actually land.

Interesting... here's one where returner "overruns" the drop point, but then comes back for it in time. Don't remember seeing that behavior much before. Perhaps a change was made that affects this, and works well in example here but fails in example above?

Oh, and here's an example of the new returner "shifting" behavior while ball is in the air that I alluded to in OP:

Still looking for more examples similar to OP, but imagine it's probably a rare case where ball drops near sideline?

Nothing wrong with this one for sure, but can't compare it to the OP link since it is private.

Not really sure what you feel the problem is here.

The returner caught and returned the ball in the 2nd and 3rd replies (only 2 that are not private).

Don't really see anything broken here Doug.

It was only the first replay, where the returner runs past the ball and it bounces out of bounds behind him. The others were just demonstrations that returner behavior when fielding punts appears to have changed this season. Could be related, could be completely unrelated.
