St. Michaels - Coming off of a tough week, tired players and a disappearing QB, the Blicas and the Blue Jays geared up for a meeting in the Mile High Blica. Both teams coming off a rough 1-6 start to the season, someone had to leave with another dreadful "L" on their record. Prior to the games commence, both teams stood in the tunnel with what many would say an "empty stare". Experiencing heart breaking records, and diminishing morale on and off the field. The only point to prove would be "Who doesn't belong at the bottom?"
Upon kick off the Blue Jays "flew" into a gridiron defense that has held the best of the best thus far in the season, proving their mark on the field, the defense caged the Blue Jays to short drives landing one touchdown [Alex Valladares\ and one field goal [Jake Dorsey], throwing one interception [You Can Hate Me]. The Jays couldn't seem to find sufficient momentum to compete with a dominant Blica offense, who held the ball for a majority of the first half, driving through the air and on the ground for four touchdowns alone [Bary Sanders, The WideOut & Eric Martins], one of which was a flawless kick return touchdown [Baller T] in the first half. Eric MartinQB proving his dominance in the league nearly completed every opportunity he had leaving the Blue Jay defense looking foolish. It seems the "Mystery of the Disappearing QB" has been solved and showed no signs of leaving anytime soon.
The second half didn't pose much of a change as the relief squad of the St. Machaels Blicas came onto the field for a majority of the second half to shut down any "comeback" hopes the Blue Jays may have. Tallying two field goals [Gazoo Gramatica] and a touchdown [Bobby Blackk], (QB) Brian McKinley stepped up to lead the Blicas, keeping the momentum alive he completed numerous drives, and wasting the clock, capping off an untarnished game with 0 turnovers. First, second or third, it didn't matter what defense the Blicas had on the field to defend the Jays, the QB Combo of Scott Carroll & Alba Love couldn't muscle an ounce of momentum in their advantage, as they were held to one touchdown [Miguel Perez] and a field goal [Acid Vinoterra], throwing one interception [The Cornerback] along the way.
Ending in a disappointing 40-19 loss, the Blue Jays flew home with their seventh loss on the year, no thanks to the player of the game combo of (QB) Eric MartinQB [23/32, 220yds, 1 TD, 0 Int] & (WR) The WideOut [14 Rec, 149yds, 1 TD] who kept the momentum pendulum swinging on one side, leaving a large margin of catch-up for the Jays to compete with. Honorable mentions for the game go to St. Michael - (HB) Baller T [1 KR TD], Turin - (QB) Scott Carroll [31/54, 270.5yds, 2 TD], Turin - (WR) Miguel Perez [11 Rec, 101yds, 1 TD], & St. Michael - (DE) The L Defensive End [4 Tackles, 1 Sack, 1 FFum, 1 FumR].
Next week the St. Michael Blicas fly to Hjørring to face the (2-6-0) Rhinos. Last time these two teams met on the green grass and screaming fans, the Blicas faced an upsetting 7-24 loss. Avenging their loss, the Blicas are anxious to take to the road for a rematch.
