The same reason people post brag threads/replays in GLB main pretending to be looking for other replays. Same reason people post joke/whine/rage threads in suggestion/bugs/faq/GLB main. They want the attention, and they want to think people like them or that they're popular.
So like most of the top replays now, they just get a bunch of friends to vote for some stupid replay just because it's a popular team or has a lot of people they can get to vote on something, not because it's a good replay.
Just another example of a good idea, crapped up by people wanting to be popular.
