In the past they would have been demoted, and then another silver team promoted. They start with championship game losers with the best record and then points allowed. So it was typically a 16-0 team that lost in the championship.

With a quick look, it would be these teams in order: St Clair Murder Squad, We Bring You Love, The Surgeons

Who is HHM?

That would be the answer to why they weren't promoted.

Losing in the 2nd round, HHM was probably somewhere in late 20's or early 30's for promotion pecking order.

Used to be if you wanted to be demoted that the owner of that team would have to get another silver team to agree to it. Its not like that anymore.

With BK? I didn't actually look, but I'm guessing you were a few spots lower than that unless a lot of teams went CPU above you. The 8 conf game losers would have been 1-8. You would have then been somewhere from 9-24 and it's based on record. At 12-3-1 I'm guessing (didn't look) that there were several teams with a better record that also lost in that round.
