Everyone will tell you speed... and it almost always is speed, except for a few specialized builds.

perfect, thanks a lot man!

Is speed the most important for all defense? (besides DEs and DTs that is)

Depends on what kind of LB your making.

If it's a Hard Hitter, start with power.
If it's a Blitzer/Cover/Combo, start with speed.

If you need help with the build just shoot me a PM. I have no problem helping you out.

most will say yes.

Speed indeed needs to be your highest attribute for all defensive positions.
It doesn't need to be your highest natural attribute (levels before equipment is added), but it does need to be your highest post equipment attribute.

For non boosters ~110 is average speed, for boosters, 145 is average speed. But this is for dots being created now with archetypes and effective multi-training.

Quite a few will argue starting with speed for even a hard hitting build, but I myself prefer starting with tackling.

wat

That is definitely not average speed in the WL at this point. More like 130ish.
For the future it'll obviously change.. but 145 is definitely top tier speed at this point.

When you guys are referring to "145 speed".... does that include AEQ and VAs?

I've got a lvl 56 ROLB who right now is at 144 speed (with 3 AEQs and the speed VA).... When I get up to that 4th piece of AEQ and lvl 72 upgrades, I would anticipate he'd be ~160 speed. What do you guys anticipate will be the speed for starting ROLBs in the World league in about 3 seasons or so? Just wondering if 160 speed would cut it....

I italicized and underlined the relevant information in my post you seem to have ignored.

Alzado, 145 speed is my estimate of what will be average speed for newer dots who have gotten the benefit of archetypes and multi-training over their entire careers. I don't think I have the experience to make an assumption of what to expect from starting ROLB's as WL builds always tend to surprise me... but if I must I would guess that 160 speed would indeed cut it in the speed category, but as for other attributes accompanying this I couldn't say.

Every single defensive position has an archetype (in most cases more than one archetype) with 4 majors that include speed. This means speed gets a .5 ALG. If the agent caps speed at 77 by level 13-14 which is a rather average capping point, and then never touches it again, ALG's should bring it to 93ish if I'm not mistaken, and from there if they put all of their EQ in speed they will end with 151 speed, not including VA's.

Considering most of the common knowledge stresses capping speed first and taking your first cap even higher than 77 it's not all that outlandish for me to make the claim I did.
