No we don't just have one replay.

It is a pattern. Some of the replays are more obvious than others, but all point to a buggy trend.

All of these CBs are running towards the middle of the field, when the outside would have been a much more obvious path.

Something is wrong with this. Quote all the rules you want, this is a BUG.

It didn't take me long to find these. They look fine.

Ok, I've looked at all the replays here and discussion.

I agree, as I did in the previous thread that got sent up, that there is some sort of issue in the coding that causes this behavior. It may be intentional or not, and it may be something that is gonna be put on the backburner for now since a lot of these end up in TD's anyway, but I'm not the one to decide that.

It seems to me that all instances of a DB jumping inside to make a pick will continue inside until he "sees" the jumble of o-linemen before cutting outside. The angle is nearly the exact same on all of those replays so it doesn't indicate any sort of vision issue to me.

In the other replays like the ones Truth posted, they do all look fine, but I think it's because the DB is already jumping the route to the outside so he continues that way and as there is no threat to make him change the angle.

I also do not see this as related to open-field pathing. I think it is just a wacky code on INT returns and I'll file it in BZ so we can get more looks at the issue.

In the meantime, keep up the replays both inside and outside. They are both suspect imo.

Likely a bug.

Looks like what is happening, is the Defender is judging their "threat to being tackled" as the nearest player. They're thus avoiding the WR by jumping towards the center of the field.

Nearly 100% of passes will come from the QB at the middle of the field passing to a WR/TE/HB outside of the box. The defender obviously must "Jump" the route and by rule, be closer to the middle than the receiver.

They then determine the receiver to be the nearest threat and run away which, as stated before, would be, by rule, towards the middle of the field. Only when another player (o-linemen) in these cases become the closest threat do they run an alternate route.

Thoughts?

This is correct. While the behavior may not be football realistic, it's working as intended and is not a bug.
