S15 my 15-1 Hedgehogs lost in the conference championship game to MEM in USAPro. NBA Jam gutted (lolironic that dpride gutted a team to get my into WL) and we were promoted after getting a choice PM from hazy.

Take the top team from the WL teams that missed the playoffs. Nothing against teams at the PRO level, but 1) it wouldn't be fair to favor one Pro league over the other, and 2) earn your way into the WL.

Only 9 win team to miss the playoffs. Not sure what the rules are, but the precedent was set last season with ESL.
I guess we will all find out after the long rollover tonight.
Thank goodness the precedent was set AFTER Lincoln demoted with 9 wins.

it doesnt matter. Neither the pro team or WL team that missed the playoffs has a chance the next season anyway

I'd go a step farther. The #9 seed team from the conference with the WL gold winner stays first. Then the other #9 seed is next. Etc.

not sure that's quite fair. one conference may have the best team but be weaker at 2 through 8.

Just have the #9 teams get scheduled into a postseason scrim, and the #10s, and the #11s, etc, for day 32. Then when empty WL spots open up on day 41, pick the winner of the #9 scrim, then the loser, then the winner of the #10 scrim, then the loser, etc. You could also put a cutoff of "must have at least .500 record from regular season" to make the cut before you drop down to Pro teams, which will likely have to be handpicked.
Seems unlikely you'd get that many gaps in WL, but it could happen.
This only works if it's announced well ahead of time, of course, but once it's the norm, it should flow fine.
