St. Michaels - After a painful and close trench war in the previous week versus Bath Killer Bees, the Blicas looked to "reel" in a much needed win at home for a much deserved crowd. Leaving the tunnel, the Blicas leave the facts of truth to sit in the back of their minds; "We've held the top teams to one h**l of a war, stopping them, not to mention holding them to field goals. There's no reason why this should be a different outcome." Which was said in the locker room leading up to todays game by the Offensive-Coordinator Bobby Blackk.
The game was underway; Gazoo lifts his right arm signaling the commence of the game, and the stadium limits it's self to a dull whisper, you could almost smell the intensity, the Whales didn't come to be out done by any defense. Coming off an upsetting loss against the Sterling Crusaders. The ball is in the air.... The moment Dante' Hall touched that ball, there was no question; THE WHALES CAME OUT FOR BLOOD. Opening up the game with three first downs, the Whales ran into the "net" that has held the defenses before them, ending the drive with a 44yd field goal by Ronnie Surewin. Not before Carson Palmer9 left an array of landed receptions bringing them into field position.
The Blica offense waited eagerly to take to the field for the first time on the day to prove something through the air, but the Whales "sea" of defenders prevented anything from happening, knocking passes down in the secondary. This doesn't normally shake up the Blica offense, due to their "bounce-back" attitude, initiating routes, and landing receptions. But (QB) Eric MartinsQB landed himself in the hole that's haunted him all season; Posting two thrown interceptions on the day.
The onslaught continued, the Whales didn't come to be shut down. Thirty-five minutes and thirty-four seconds total before half time and the Whales extended their shutout to 38-0, moving the ball for 272.5yds in the first half, picking up two interceptions, one for a touchdown. Carson Palmer9 seemed to be lights out on the day landing passes positioned vastly across the field, completing with TJ Houshmandazadeh, Antonio Chatman and Ricky Braun countless times, with impressive pickups on the ground by moose jackson.
An exhausted defense entered the locker room at halftime, to sit in a miserable and uncomfortable silence for minutes. No one was blaming anyone, no one cared to speak up at first. You could sense the stress, almost smell it from the press box high above The Mile High Blica.Ten minutes into halftime it was (CB) Afro Samuraii who cut the tension. With sweat pouring down his face, rolling of the dust that has caked his face from chasing the opposition, he said; "We've built a hole we may not be able to climb out of, but I'm d*mn sure I'm not going to sit in this locker room and mope over our loss this early in the game, we're losers when we don't try. I'm not done fighting." as he grabbed his helmet and exited the locker room ten minutes before it was time return to the field. Following him were the shining faces of relief players T E, Jimmy Firedash, Brian McKinley & Eric Zoglman, with Bary Sanders, Honus Wagner, Logan Bailey, Thomas Bucknasty, Bill Brickwall & Keith Fischer not too far behind.
You couldn't picture the scoreboard reading 38-0 at the end of halftime by the tremendous roar of the crowd. The stadium was electric, the grill was ignited, would it be enough to grill the Whales in the second half? Kickoff was underway, with the offense coming to the field to pick up the pieces. 1st & 10, Eric MartinQB lines the offense up in a Pro Set formation; With a quick route and a landed reception Keith Fischer was left in the hands of (LOLB) Peter Trolligher, fighting for position, battling to stay on his feet, the Linebacker strips the ball away. The very next drive, the Whales ran into an unfamiliar Blica defense, forcing a cork in the Whales momentum "blow hole", leaving the Whales on a three and out situation.
After many attempts, the Blicas couldn't seem to click offensively. But they didn't' give up. The much needed relief of Leroy Munson, Scott Maddison and T E, came to the field proving their place on the field, but after many attempts, the remaining second half left the Blicas empty-handed. Moving the ball in successful drives, but leaving them high and dry, nowhere near the sea with the Whales. The speech Afro left in the locker room lit something under the defense, shutting down the Whales to a slim thirteen points. The final whistle blew and the scoreboard read 0-48. Crowning a successful Whale team victors, posting 543 total yards with two interceptions and three fumbles. Without question, todays player of the game would be Carson Palmer9, leading his team to the top, proving his excellent guidance tallying six touchdowns and 388.5yds. Leaving 31/48, one of Carson's best showings on the day.
Next week St. Michales Blicas leave for Yorshire to face the 2-4 Yorkshire Rippers inside The Graveyard. A team led by (HB) Admir Hasicic on the ground, (WR) Dud S through the air, (C) Iam arnot pushing over DT's & NT's all day, and (CB) Jonathan Evans, (FS) Sove Liss & (CB) Messy Room, their pass protecting defenders. This game could turnout to be quite the grudge match, as both teams are suffering from some upsetting defeats on the year.
