For the preseason, I'll just be using a script as opposed to a script and personal opinion since there's nothing to base my opinion on right now....okay, there's some opinion in there. And I may or may not be biased. Deal with it

Zeta Conference


The Contenders

1 Washington Lightning
2 Diggersboy's Dolphins with Frickin' Lasers
3 New Jersey Storm
4 St. John Rumrunners
5 Lowestoft Trawlermen

These are the immediate conference contenders. Expect these teams to be fighting it out for home playoff games near the end of the season, as well as the matchups between these teams to be entertaining ones. The top 3 teams are nearly interchangeable.


The Wild-Cards

6 We Try Hard
7 Midgard Screaming Eagles
8 Columbus,Ohio Little Irish Rebels
9 B P Oil Spills

These 4 either fall just short of being a contender, or lack the apparent depth. With the right tactics ( or luck) these teams all have the propensity to pull off an upset. One of these will miss the playoffs; I won't make any predictions. I do think the BP Oil Spills were a bit underrated by the script and their 9th ranking might be a little too low.

Alpha Conference

This league is going to be competitive without a doubt. The Alpha conference displays plenty of strength.

I'll do my Season Preview at the end of the preseason. That should be a bit more comprehensive and I'll try and put my thoughts on every team.

Yeah this is pretty cool Two thumbs way up for doing this. Georgia Dawgs #1 at the end of the season. Ok that may be a LIL bias.

OK, I'll bite: exactly how does the Alpha conference display any "strength"? Is it because they don't have six CPU teams?

Pretty much. I'm just being as vague and general as possible since I don't really have the time to go in-depth. The script says it's a stronger conference, so I'm going to write that it displays strength.

Having mostly human run teams with full rosters helps too.

I'll buy that. I only question because my quick glance over the Alpha teams didn't lead me to think they were any more special on top (read: teams with a shot at a playoff seed) than their Zeta counterparts, but the preseason results are bearing out your assessment.

but who is actually trying

Wild guess: no one is trying to win the preseason, so the results only point to loldot talent and not to GM magic. I can state without question that two of our preseason games were against teams that weren't trying.

I had one meaningful preseason game the rest seemed like they weren't trying.
