You're wrong. I don't know how it is in other european countries, but here in Italy we have a lot of team with only italian players.
I've played football (NOT SOCCER)for about fifteen years, and i saw very few american guys...

im from denmark
we only have one american and he played in the AFL
most teams have like 3-5 import players.
but if the team is good without them they might as well work on getting their guys better

Here in Italy we have a more complex situation...
There are two separeted federations, one in which only italian players are allowed to play, the other one (richer) where every team can play three non-european guys together. There are no limits for european players.
Usually those american guys are undrafted college II or III division players, with some exception.
This year, for example, Milano's team had John Stocco, you know him? He was 4 year starter QB for Winsconsin Badgers, and made the NFL with the Packers.

last year in denmark the winning team had a RB named David Freeman
he just got to play in the all-american league which will be like a farming league to the NFL
