Welcome to this edition of week 14's playoff picture for the almighty Zeta conference.
In looking back at week 13, I told each of you "in the coming weeks figuring out the 4, 5, 6, and 7 seeds could be a HUGE mess."
Well, I was right. This week had an interesting turn of events as both Stroudsburg and Big Island lost. The top three seeds are set, but its almost like a lottery drawing for 4-7.
Wroclaw and Algoma both won their games while Stroudsburg and Big Island lost. The loss for Big Island hurts, but does not hurt their playoff seeding chances too much just yet. Big Island played Scorpion and with the top three spots entrenched already they probably we already looking past this game and chocking it up as a loss.
Now then, with the loss by both Big Island and Stroudsburg, Wroclaw climbs into the 4th spot and Algoma moves into the 5th spot.
Big Island drops three spots to the 6th seed.
Stroudsburg is now behind the pack at 9-5 and are holding onto the 7th seed in the playoffs. They need to be very careful as Montreal is on a three game winning streak, but has two very tough games in front of them. Stroudsburg has a tough schedule as well as they play Barcelona and a Wroclaw team on a roll. I do now believe that Stroudsburg is out of the hunt for the 4, 5, or 6 seed. Which leaves the huge mess from early to Wroclaw, Algoma, and Big Island.
However, it creates a whole new mess to look at.
Stroudsburg has two very, tough games ahead of them. Montreal still has to play Nuremberg and Scorpion. But, an interesting situtation has occurred. Lefkada has two cup cake games on their schedule for the rest of the way.
If Stroudsburg drops their last two, barring some miracle upset above them, they have just about entrenched themselves as the 7 seed with their loss yesterday.
But, looking at the Lefkada situation, it is my belief that Lefkada will win their last two. Montreal will lose their last two. Which, will put both teams at 8-8 with Lefkada holding the head to head tiebreaker putting them into the 8 seed and dropping Montreal out of the playoffs.
BIGCOWBOYSFAN'S PROJECTED FINAL PLAYOFF SEEDING
1. Scorpion Phalanx - (I see no change happening here.)
2. Nuremberg Nighthawks - (I see no change happening here.)
3. Barcelona Chupacabras - (I see no change happening here.)
4. Wroclaw Wolverines
5. Big Island Growas
6. Algoma Beach Tokers
--Wroclaw will do just enough to win the final home playoff game spot. Algoma and Big Island are interchangeable at this point.
7. Stroudsburg Gators
--Barring a major upset in the top 6, Stroudsburg has this spot virtually locked up.
8. Lefkada Seahawks
--Looking at schedules, between who Lefkada must play and who Montreal must play. I see both teams finishing at 8-8 and Lefkada holding a tie breaker over Montreal and slipping in.
