So I made my starting guard. I put everything heavily into strength and then blocking. I have a few questions that I'm having trouble finding, it seems everyone already understands the basic methods of the best way to reach a cap but I don't.

Let's say I'm going up to cap strength at 73. Do I do this *only* by doing intense training towards strength? Or do I funnel my SPs towards this to help? Do I save my SPs instead for using all SPs at a higher level?

What do I do with bonus tokens? Do I get the strength boost that increases the rate I train strength at, or just save it only for equipment way down the line?

Do I get all the basic gear with +1 str at the start, or am I supposed to avoid using gear for the first time because it'll cost BTs after that?

Last thing, can I even be worth anything if I'm not willing to pay to boost? Maybe not at the highest level, but can my character be decent at some of the mid levels?

If you do not plan to boost then you can still be useful to teams but you will have to bounce around from team to team every season or two because you will fall behind. You max level should be around level 40ish so you will be stuck in the minor leagues forever. It is not that bad since there are some good nonboosting players out there and teams sometimes seek them out because they have a training edge at their position due to their age.

As far as building goes. You might want to retire and start over. Basically you want to spend your roll points on your first skill. Taking it to 25 is the highest I think. Then hold your initial 15 SP. Train your first skill to 28 by level 2 if you can. That way you can reach the first soft cap at 48 by level 2. Then you can train your next skill while spending all SP from leveling on your first skill. You should take it to 68 or higher. 73 Is a common goal that many O linemen start out with.

Once your first skill is complete. It should only take about 3 levels of SP to cap your next skill. You can then decide how high to take the skill. Remember at this point your player should be slow to level and if you don't plan to boost you might already have to start thinking about balancing the build.

As for BT and AEQ and basic EQ. I generally start out with basic EQ. I wait a few seasons before I start looking for AEQ. So save your BT. I have not figured out the best training methods yet. It is new this season. I mix normal and light training to save BT.

Cool, don't think I need to start over. I have everything in strength and I'm training that to 28 under intense, then will use SPs to hit 48.

This post was very helpful, I think it all makes sense now.
