Warrior General Games

Been way too quiet in here this season and unfortunately I've been too busy to do rankings like I did last season. But figured I'd throw something together real quick for the playoffs and hopefully some discussion will follow.

Lion:

Wallachia (16-0) vs Kingdom Come (9-7) - Tough hill for the Kingdom to climb in round one. The regular season matchup started a 4-6 slide for Kingdom Come that saw them slip to 8th in the playoff race. Wallachia has been clicking on all cylinders all season, and it appears the only question this time will be if the Kingdom can hold the Wamphyrii under 100 points.
Wallachia 88-7

Cagliari (15-1) vs Samoan (10-6) - Cagliari marched through everyone in the division except for Wallachia, including a 40 point drubbing of Samoan in week 16. Still, Samoan is no cupcake, and could keep things close for a little while if they can manage to slow down the Outbreak's running attack. There won't be any miracles here though. The Outbreak will win easily.
Cagliari 56-10

Thompson (14-2) vs Tanzania (11-5) - Interesting matchup here as Tanzania matches up well level wise with Thompson but the Hunters destroyed the Lumberjacks early in the season. Somehow Tanzania managed to give Cagliari trouble but were trounced by the Space Cowboys? The potential is there for the Lumberjacks to give Thompson a run for their money but nothing is going to stand in the Hunters way of getting a 2nd chance at the Outbreak.
Thompson 45-20

Sun City (11-5) vs Houston (11-5)- There's been a definite separation of tiers in Lion this season and Sun City seems to wear the title "Best of the Rest". Pulling off an upset beyond round 1 would be shocking but I'm pretty sure they would take down anyone not in the top 3. They are riding an 8 game winning streak into the playoffs and face a Houston team that doesn't seem to know what the hell it's going to do week to week. They whip Tanzania and Kingdom Come soundly....they get destroyed by the Wamphyrii and Outbreak....they play respectable against Thompson. I'm not real confident in the Space Cowboys' gameplanning so despite their high level starters, I think the Undertakers plant the Cowboys six feet under (insert eye rolls at the cheezy metaphor).

Wow....shaking my head here. The Houston win wasn't a big surprise but never thought Tanzania would take down Thompson. The Lumberjacks gave Cagliari a decent game the first time around and I totally underestimated them this week so even though I don't think the Outbreak will overlook them, it could get interesting. I hate to see my bro mwindle go out like this but congrats to Tanzania.

I'm with you Scully. I did a double-take on the Thompson vs Tanzania game....until I looked back and saw the results of the Tanzania vs Cagliari game in the regular season. Tanzania is tough.

Yeah they played us as tough in the first half as anyone has all season (including some scrimmages against top AAA teams in other leagues). Actually played us better in the first half than Cagliari did. They just faded in the 2nd half. Not that I'm trying to insult Houston but I'm awful glad the Outbreak is playing them in round 2 instead of us.

Great write up. 31 and 33 yard missed FGs are killers, especially in the playoffs. The sim does some crazy shit in the playoffs.

They had chemistry in the 70's when they played us and the Outbreak earlier this season. Plus it was kind of game where not much went our way. We kept missing first downs by .5 yds. And I had AI set to go for it on 4th and short from the 50 in. 3 times we had a 4th and 1 or less from the our own 48, 49 & 49. One of those times being with 6 minutes left trailing by 4. They had some key sacks and stops. They will be a tough game for the Outbreak again. As they have much improved chemistry this time.

Amen to the crazy stuff. Granted we had more room for error but during the regular season, as a team we had only 2 fumbles and lost only one of them. We had 4 lost fumbles against Kingdom yesterday. Come to think of it though, maybe the crazy thing is us only losing 1 fumble during the regular season

You must have been a little bit surprised with the Houston win since you picked it 56-19 the other way around.

nope not surprised...level wise the Cowboys should be on par with Tanzania and Thompson and Wallachia for that matter. But they look good one week and suck ass the next. I sorta figured they'd get whipped b/c let's face it, they lost to Wallachia by 200 and Cagliari by 100. But considering how they have beat some good teams you just never know which Houston team will show up.

No one is on par with Wallachia except Stu. That will be the championship game for sure.
