Thanks again for participating, we have some changes after one week of play, here it is...
1.) Silverymoon Elves
2.) Waco Davidians
3.) Buffalo Rangers
4.) Great Plains Reapers
5.) Las Vegas Stunners
6.) New Brunswick N00bs
7.) Portland Hitmen
8.) Dallas Red Raiders
9.) Spicewood Longhorns
10.) Oakland Wizards
11.) Scottsdale Sun Demons
12.) Miami Cyclones
13.) Grand Haven Mist
14.) Hartford Hellhounds
15.) RGB Berzerk
16.) Carolina Bar Stars
1 - Silverymoon (W @ #13 Hartford 51-7)(Previous: 2. +1)- 6 Sacks, giving up negative yards rushing, 3 takeaways, no rusher averaged over a yard per carry. The defense showed that they are one of the league's best which is scary when you see that their offense is so amazing. Johnson was spectacular with 6 TDs, two HBs had over 90 yards, and the receiving stats were spread evenly between 5 players. One word describes Silverymoon - Stout.
2 - Waco (W vs. #7 Dallas 36-7)(Pvs: 1. -1) - Like Silverymoon, Waco showed that good teams can take away their opponents run game. Dallas only had 31 yards on the ground. Waco builds an early lead and forces teams to throw the ball in an attempt for a comeback. They then proceed to intercept those passes and increase the lead. 4 INTs helped seal the deal for Waco who also have a spectacular defense.
3. Buffalo (W @ #10 Miami 45-14)(pvs: 4. +1)- Imagine that. Miami couldn't run the ball. Miami only managed 26.5 yards on the ground at a 1.3 yard per carry pace. Buffalo might end up having the best rushing attack in the league. 235.5 yards is very solid. The load was shared as well. While Jack Bruce was their main force, Marshawn Beastman also looked very good.
4.) Great Plains (W @ #8 Oakland 25-6)(pvs: 3. -1) - Do you see a trend? Another top level team shuts down the run. Oakland only manages 27 yards rushing. Their offense was good but not great. They'll have to improve on that side of the ball to move up into the top two spots.
5.) Las Vegas (W @ #15 RGB 51-9) (pvs: 5. +- 0)-See above. 44 rushing yards yielded. We evenly distributed the ball with 200 + yards rushing and passing. Dark Gable has to be the def. MVP of the week with 5 picks and 7 tackles. That's a season's total of interceptions. Can the Stunners do it against the top dogs is the question?
6.) New Brunswick (W vs. #16 Carolina 42-0) (pvs: 9. +3) - I hate repeating myself but -2.5 yards rushing for Carolina. Good teams shut down the run. Can they shut down the better HBs? We'll see. They dominated the Stars though and look like the team that played the Davidans so well last year.
7.)Portland (W vs. #6 Spicewood 21-19) (pvs: 11. +4)- I guess you have to rank them ahead of Spicewood since they did beat them. While they had less rushing and passing yards, they did play a clean game with no turnovers and strong red zone defense. I think hey'll need more offense and will have to start forcing turnovers to move any higher up the rankings. Still gotta like their big win.
8.) Dallas (L 7-36 @ #1 Waco)(pvs: 7. -1) Couldn't play their game when Waco just comes out of the gate so fast. Their skil players are pretty good offensively, but the O-Line is not developed enough to compete against the top tier teams. Their defense is good enough though and Waco just picked it apart.
9.) Spicewood (L 19-21 vs. #11 Portland)(pvs: 6. -3) The upset victim of the week. They really outplayed Portland, but they couldn't get TDs in the Red Zone and they mised some key FGs. If they don't start to utulize key red zone posessions, their promising year will be a broken promise.
10.) Oakland (L 6-25 vs. #3 Great Plains) (pvs: 8. -2) Oakland is a good team, but you have to have a semblance of a run game and they had none. Great Plains is a good team and Oakland just wasn't as good. They'll have trouble rebounding this week though against a good nOObs team..
11.) Scottsdale (W 16-7 @ #14 Grand Haven) (pvs. 12. +1) May not deserve this ranking, but they did win. They didn't look that impressive against one of the lesser eams in the division, but they took care of business. Big interceptions and timely kicking helped them prevail. They'll have to fight and claw to stay perched in the top 10.
12.) Miami (L 14-45 vs. #4 Buffalo) (pvs: 10. -2) I thought this team would fare better, but Buffalo looks legit. They couldn't get anything going offensivel with no run game and 3 INTs. They have a goo line and a great RB. They'll be much better this week.
13.) Grand Haven (L 7-16 vs. #12 Scottsdale) (pvs: 14. +1) Grand Haven was in this game late, but turnovers killed them. 3 picks will ruin the best of them. They played pretty evenly, but the picks were the difference. Control the ball an wins will come.
14.) Hartford (L 7-51 vs. #2 Silverymoon) (pvs: 13. -1) A decent team just got run over by some Elves. Hopefully they can pick themselves up, dust off, and knock heads with a very good Spicewood squad. Their excellent HB couldn't get started against Silverymoon. He'll have to do better against the Longhorns.
15.) RGB (L 9-51 vs. #5 Las Vegas)(pvs: 15. 0) They did distribute the ball to a lot of guys. 9 different offensive players had receptions. But none had more than Dark Gable. Unfortunately, he was on the other team. I do think that this squad will pick up th pace and perform much better than this as the season progresses. But luck is not with thm, because Silverymoon sits next on their schedule.
16.) Carolina ( L 0-42 #9 New Brunswick) (pvs: 16. 0) New Brunswick tried to let Carolina stay in the game by only kicking FGs to start things off, but after 5 FGs, the Noobs decided to punch it in and then punch out the Bar Stars. They are gonna have a rough year with an undermanned squad.
