Let's take a look at Zeta briefly since both games were one-sided. Then we can zoom in on two close match ups in Alpha.

Valhalla . 48 - Bonn Dynamo 14

This one was over at halftime as Valhalla opened up a 34-0 lead. Here were a few highlights:

Chocolate Blaze 49 - Ministry of Dotball 16

The Blaze put an even coating of hurt on MOD with 14 points in each quarter until they eased up in the 4th. MOD was good at driving, but had to settle for FG's three times. Their only TD came on a kickoff return. The Blaze defense was tough.

Let's take a look at Alpha. First up:
Lincoln Navigators vs. Haliblack Rap Esplosion

Lincoln has had a perfect season so far, and at 17-0 they wanted to keep that going. But they were facing two-time World League Champion Haliblack, who have a history of stepping up their game come playoff-time. Let's take a look at the action.

Hali got the ball first but had to punt after picking up one first down. Lincoln grabbed the bull by the horns and drove right down the field. The first big play was this 21-yard connection from Buster Crouch to America Fuk Ya on 3rd and 10:

Then Chris Horner got a sack on the next play:

Hali answered right back, their drive summed up in two big plays. First a 30-yard connection from Tossin' Bombs to Fast Willie Parker out of the backfield:

Followed by a Bombs to Tyrone Jackson pass for a 42-yard TD. (Notice the Ontario Williamson double-team):

Lincoln 7 - Haliblack 7

On the ensuing drive Lincoln was facing a 3rd and 5 when Higgs Boson sacked Crouch for a 5-yard loss forcing a punt:

After Lincoln forced a Hali punt, this good return by Javy5 Arenas5 gave them the ball close to midfield:

But Action Jackson forced a fumble and Manny Calavera recovered giving Hali a chance to go on top. And they did just that:

Then the teams traded punts with the only red/blue play being this sack by Chris Horner:

Then there was some quick action. First with 3:36 left in the half, Lincoln kicked a FG to cut the lead to four after a good drive:

Then special teams reared its ugly and sometimes forgotten head. Nathan The Interceptor Vasher was trying to make an extra cut and Mike Guillotine forces a fumble on the return and Jed Approved recovers it for Lincoln:

Three plays later Crouch hits America for the TD and Lincoln is on top:

Then it gets worse for the visitors, on the first play from scrimmage after the next return Bombs hits Willie Parker out of the backfield. It is a nice gain, but then he is hit hard by Simeon Castille and the ball comes loose and Deshea Townson recovers it for Lincoln:

Lincoln has the ball at Hali's 26-yard line facing a 4th and 1 with 1:22 left in the half. A FG would put them up 10. But they decide to go for it and Patrick Tayler makes a huge hit and the Navigators turn the ball over on downs:

But it gets even better for Hali as after the stuff Bombs hits Aidan Pryde for a 74-yard TD and suddenly Hali has the lead back:

That is the score at the half. The 3rd quarter starts out great for Hali. First Chris Horner gets a sack on the quarter's first play:

Then this 26-yard pass from Bombs to Williamson (in between three defenders) sets up a FG and the Esplosions are up by a TD:

Then Lincoln is really on the ropes. Two Shawne Merriman sacks puts Lincoln in a hole:

Hali forces another turnover on 3rd and 14 as Higgs Boson forces a fumble and Action Jackson recovers it:

Then Hali makes a questionable 4th down decision. Facing 4th and .5 they go for it. But Gash Fillmore stuffs Dior for a 1.5-yard loss and the visitors turn it over on downs:

Lincoln takes advantage of that stuff and drives the length of the field to tie the game on this short TD plunge by Finest:

Hali gets the ball back but only gets near midfield when they have to punt. Lincoln takes over with 14:11 left in the game and uses up five minutes and takes the lead on this medium pass from Crouch to Speedster McGee:

The teams trade punts. Finally with 1:52 left Hali takes over needing a TD to extend their season. 3rd and 3.5 they get 4.5 on a pass from Bombs to Pryde:

Another good one in Alpha's other match up: Ever seen two Dragons battle it out? Well you just knew it was going to be a barn burner.

So which Dragon would prevail? Let's take a look:

You know you have a defensive battle on your hands when the first points come thanks to a safety. But first a couple of important plays leading up to it. MPHD gets a sack by Jakey Crusher here:

Dakar fought back in the 2nd quarter and put together a nice drive. It was capped by this short TD pass from Forcier to Jessica Landry:

Then Dakar gets it going on defense. Ima End with a sack on Zheng Yi Quan:

The Hidden Dragons' offense reveals itself on the next possession. They move right down the field and find the end zone on this 7-yard TD run by Frank The Wrecking Ball:

That was the score at the half. In the second half, this 30-yard pass from Quan to End has the Dragons on the move:

Then it was just a bunch of good defense. With each team forcing the other team to punt. The difference was that MPHD was picking up precious field position with every change of possession. This 14-yard punt return by Prototype X has MPHD starting near midfield:

As the 4th quarter starts Dakar really needs some points (any points) to make it a one-score game. This 22-yard pass from Forcier to Landry gets them moving:

The drive keeps moving the chains and finally Michael Shaw gets Dakar to within two when he powers into the end zone from two-yards out:

Finally, facing a 4th and 1 at the MPHD 6.5 the Dragons of Dakar decide to go for it. Usually not a bad call, but against MPHD's defense it is costly. Yosef Halevi stops Michael Shaw just short of the marker and MPHD takes over on downs:

A FG there to take the lead could have changed everything. But with 2:47 left there is still time if they can get a stop. First down is a sack by Dwight Freeney:

Then two incompletes has MPHD punting from their own 1 with 1:51 left in the game. Bao Chou hits it, but it is returned inside the 45. A cloud of MPHD tacklers surround To That House, Dakar's returner. Stuff Happens pounds him and the ball pops out. Stuffie Cook pounces on it and MPHD recovers!

Dakar has to burn all their timeouts and Bao Chou pins them inside their 10 with 1:24 left:
