Round one had a few interesting outcomes with Zimbabwe taking down the Fish and Wallachia outscoring Thompson but the most surprising to me was Lake Opeta winning handily over Darfur. Once again props to the Lake Opeta staff for stepping up with a big win. Here's a quick overview of the 2nd round:

Lion:

(1) Pretoria vs (5) Wallachia - Pretoria shut down a game Samoan team that was playing some good dotball at season's end. They're continuing their steady march towards the title game but will have to get by a Wallachia team that outlasted a very strong Thompson squad in what looked like an Arena Football League game. The regular season matchup was a barnburner if Wallachia can keep their offense clicking, it looks to be another exciting matchup. In the end, the Crusaders just have too much and will march on to the conference championship. Pretoria 45 - 30.

(2) Bamako vs (3) Ironton - Two very strong and well coached teams. Bamako came away with the victory in the regular season where both teams failed to reach the end zone. Expect another defensive struggle here that will likely go down to the wire. I seriously just flipped a coin....Ironton 17 - 16

Elephant:
(1) Kiev vs (4) Lake Opeta - The Dynamo are just freakin' ridiculous but I will have to give props to Wrightstown for a respectable showing in round 1. Meanwhile, the Little Lake that Could made a statement on their home field whipping a very hot Darfur team (and I admit I had it figured the other way around). However, Kiev is a different story and while I expect Lake Opeta to have a solid gameplan, I just don't think it's going to work out they way they'd like. Kiev 48 - 16

(2) Sahara vs (6) Zimbabwe - Stu completed a surprising season sweep of the Little Fish in the only big upset of round 1. Similar to Lake Opeta, Zimbabwe does an excellent job with gameplanning. The regular season matchup was a close one but Sahara has really turned it on these last few weeks and I dont' see this one being as tight. Sahara gets their rematch with Kiev next week. Sahara 34 - 20

Good Luck to all the playoff teams this week......hoping all of them are competitive. It'd be a great way to wind down what's been an excellent season.

I know Zimbawei have a amazing running power, and I set the defense tactics fous on their running.
And I still defeated by their running........
Maybe Zimbawei just know how to defeat team style like mine...
Just like we defeat Lake Opeta, Lake Opeta kick Darfur, and Durfur beat Taipei......

Just don't make it two out of three on the coin toss.

GG Kiev and GL the rest of the way. Nothing against Zimbabwe or Sahara, but I am really hoping you guys win the conference and promote to APL. Maybe that way we'll at least have a shot at winning here

Thanks, and great game guys, I watched it live and you really had me worried for a second in the first when your HBs were just running roughshod over us. You've got a great setup there.

Wow.....another tight game Pretoria. I'm pleased we were able to have a shot there....can't ask for more than that. You guys played a great D plan. Actually thought you would be a little tighter on KJ and hoped to hit the WRs a little more frequently but I think like 20 of our incompletions were WR targets. Your DTs killed us with the knocking down passes thing on some open players....I'm very impressed.

One thing I became aware of today....if you call the Single Back Screen.....it's gonna throw it to the HB no matter what. I had the Single Back Screen called a good % in one particular package....except I did custom targets and put all 5 looks at WR2 hoping to catch the DBs coming in to cover the screen.......was saying some very choice words to the computer screen when I saw it kept throwing it to KJ. Had never tried it before but thought what the hell....it's the playoffs. But that's maybe something I should have tried out in a scrimmage beforehand

Very good game Pretoria. You guys deserve your top seed and whoever walks away from the Pretoria/Bamako matchup will have earned their Pro league promotion. Congrats guys
