Welcome all you wannabe Cracker Killers! I am going to give my 2 cents about what has happened so far this season and what I think is going to happen from this point on. You can choose to stop reading this right now and move on, or you can read it. Either way it is just my opinion. Take it or Leave it.
Whos Hot in Alpha
1. Kingston Killer Rabbits - I have to put these guys up here after squeeking out a win against the Madness. I dont think they will finish with the #1 Spot, but they deserve it right now. A strong defense keeps this team in every game. My Prediction: 13-3
2. Rancho Cucamonga Cracker Killers - I know you may think this is a biased opinion, but seriously we are playing pretty good and we havent hit our stride yet. We will see how we stackup as our schedule gets alot tougher. A Quality win over the Chihuahuas. Prediction: 14-2
3. Transylvania Madness - I know this may shock a few of you, but these guys are the real deal. They would be at the top of my board if they hadnt lost a close game to the Rabbits. This team has an great offense and defense. They will be in contention for the #1 spot at the end of the season. It might just come down to week 16! Prediction: 14-2
4. Tinker Mechanics - They are slated at the top of the rankings right now, but I dont think they will stay there. They beat the Chihuahuas but not real convincingly. They are a Top 5 contender. Prediction: 12-4
Who is Hot in Zeta
1. The Officer Doofies - Despite their loss to the Madness, they are the top team in Zeta. The Claymores are the only other team that I think can actually contend for the #1 spot and thats a stretch. The Doofies have a solid Offense and Defense. They have beaten the Claymores once already. Prediction: 15-1
2. Scottish Claymores - This is where it gets interesting. I think these guys are a #2 or #3 team in Zeta. The Hedgehogs are a definite threat to their #2 ranking, but for now they get it because of the win over the Hogs. They have already played some solid teams and are sitting at 4-1. They will finish in the Top 5, probably top 3. Prediction: 12-4
3. Emerald City Hedgehogs - These guys are a playoff team for sure in Zeta. The Hogs are pretty solid all the way around. They lost to the Claymores, but they werent thrashed. Thats why they get the nod at the #3 spot. Prediction: 12-4
4. Mannheim Jaguars - They are ranked #1 right now, but have played teams with a combined record of 6-19. I still have them ranked in the top 5, but that could change as the tougher games lie ahead. It will be interesting to see how they do the rest of the way. Prediction: 11-5
5. Hungarian Hitmen - Again these guys are ranked high right now, but they havent played a contender yet. They are a playoff team in Zeta. We will see just how strong they are this week as they matchup with The Officer Doofies. Prediction: 10-6
Alpha
I really think that Alpha has more teams that can contend for the Conference Crown. I believe it wont be decided until week 16 when RCCK and the Madness square off. Which will be interesting to see who wants the conference title and if they are willing to tip their hat to get it. I believe that The Killer Rabbits and the Mechanics will fight for the #3 and #4 positions. But dont be surprised if they pull an upset and make it to the #2 seed. I think that the Madness will take the #1 Spot, RCCK the #2 Spot, Rabbits the #3 and Mechanics #4.
The rest of the Pack is jumbled. It will sort itself out over the next few weeks. I would think that the Chihuahuas will be sitting at the #5 or #6 spot at the end of the season. They are a solid group, just not at the elite level yet.
Zeta
Zeta is a little different. I think that there are only a few teams that have a chance at the title this season. Matter of fact I really only see 1 team...the Doofies. I dont like to crown anyone before they have paid their dues, but no one really compares to them in Zeta. Hopefully that will change down the stretch, but only a few are even close enough to make an attempt. Look for the Doofies to take the #1 seed, Claymores the #2 seed, Hedgehogs the #3, Mannheim #4 and Hungarian #5.
The middle of the Pack....I think that Revelation 9:11is the next best team. They beat the Mallards 48-10. I see the Mallards at #6 having already played some of the better teams. I see the Huskies and the Olympians finishing up the top 8 and to make the playoffs.
Coaches Offensive Player Awards
Best Passing QB: Optimus Prime, Philadelphia Predators - Despite being on a CPU controlled team, this guy leads the league in most Passing categories. It would be interesting to see what he would do on a human controlled team.
Best Rushing QB: James Ewell Brown Stuart, Northwood Trojans - You just cant argue with this mans success. My rushing QB is good, but this guy is a bonified stud! He could end up with over 7500 yards rushing and 150 TDs if he keeps up his pace!
Best HB: Brian "Smash" Williams, Addicts Coalition Dragons - He doesnt lead the league in Yards, he doesnt lead the league in TDs.....But this kid is flat out amazing. He averages 17.8 yards a carry and does a great job receiving out of the backfield.
Best WR: Michael "Mr.$tar $tatus" Marquez, The Officer Doofies - He doesnt have the most yards or the most TDs, but the guy gets the job done better than any other WR in the league. He averages 28.6 yards a catch and has 5 TDs.
Best Offensive Standout: Kendall Revis, Emerald City Hedgehogs - Would someone please feed this guy! I think they purposely starve him so that he goes and gets the Pancakes on the field! 187 pancakes in 5 games....whoa!
Best DLman: Willis Dikfit, Mannheim Jaguars - lol what a name for this guy. I think he is doing a great job of making sure it does fit...he has 51 tackles, 33 sacks, 5 Forced Fumbles and 2 Pass Deflections! What a machine
Best LB: Ray Bell, Cardinal Sins - Dude is a tackling machine. 60 tackles already this season, I am not sure if their DL is even on the field! Im not sure they have to be! Good old Ray has you covered!
Best CB: Perry Williams, Mighty Chihuahuas - Again its hard to tell if this guy is this good or just has more opportunity to shine! But 24 tackles, 5 sacks, 26 Pass Deflections, 2 Int's and 1 Defensive TD. I would say he is doing his job!
Best SF: Louis "Missile" Delmas, Cardinal Sins - 116 tackles. Enough said.
Best STs Player: Poul Kjeldsen, Carlsbad Crusaders - 9/9, 41/44 with 19 tackles. Its tough to just pick out one player in STs. But this guy is 100% on his kicks and that means he automatically puts points on the board. Good player to have around
Final Thoughts
Alpha and Zeta couldnt be any different. Alpha seems to have several contenders that could raise the Conference trophy and Zeta seems to have been determined already. Will the conferences finish as I have predicted, or is there a team that is playing possum and waiting in the shadows, ready to take advantage of their opportunities down the stretch??
