All equipment and training is paid for, what else do they need?

tell me about it. Im having a real hard time signing human players. as a first year team, we just can afford to spend the cash people are asking for.

do you get some kind of prize if your the highest paid player at your level? no. I don't see why some players will sit out a season in the FA pool. You'd gain more XP actually on a team.

Luckily we seem to have a lot of good owners in AA#2. I think we're all decent guys really trying to enjoy the game while being competitive.

No doubt. My players don't want to deal with shady owners, and I don't think anyone would. I think everyone in this league, at least from what I have seen, is being pretty straight up.

Im just telling people all equipment upgrades and training will be paid for no problem and even saying we can renegotiate as the season goes forward, but nobody wants to join a team that has alot of cpus as backups I guess. Bonuses Im floating to level 6 and up go from 10k-20k...thats not cheap I dont think. I cant continue making players for my own team!!!

not true a team of lvl 1 humans will be crushed by a team of lvl 10-100 CPUs

I trust a level 1 human player setting tactics correctly and such, intensity level, than a CPU player.

Seriously, I'd take a level 1 human over a level 100 cpu any day.

CPU players play about 3-5 levels lower than humans. But I will always take human players because the point of a MMO is to interact with other players. If I wanted to play a football video game by myself I think I would play NCCA or Madden, much better graphics.

CPU players probably want to interact and regale in their victories and lament their losses ... but their programs must complete adn they can't be assed to respond. :O But hey... at least they don't get angry about play time!

Er... I'd also rather have a bunch of 1's, than CPUs... not that I like most humans that much, but interacting with their agents usually proves to be beneficial.

It only seems a few teams really are competitive in all aspects (cut throat within team stuff) as well as other things like gameplans etc. In team competitiveness drives the team further than overall competitivness to win usually.

You have to pm players the right message. Admit up front you aren't giving them a large contract. It won't do them any good, other than buying equipment. State you want team players, who care more for the team winning than for their own stats. And then challenge them. Say if they want a team who's desire is to win, then they should join you. If they want money, then they should join the teams throwing out cash who won't have enough money to fill their roster.

Or something to that effect. It's what I did.

Problem is, there are cheap ass owners out there who say this to lure you in, and promise you that they'll pay for your equipment, and over time, pay you competitively.

And break their promises, and try to guilt trip when you leave to go to a team that can do both.

I'll never sign with anyone that tries that approach again.

The good thing is there are good owners, like the one I play for now, and the last one I had. Both offered a small contract and promised to pay for equipment, and it happened without question. Kudos to Greatest Show and Mooks!

I'm very fortunate that I haven't had the problems that a lot of people have, and that I've been able to consolidate most of my players onto teams where they get the playing time I wanted them to have, get treated fairly by owners, get paid fairly, and promises kept. There are still a couple of teams that I could stand to be off of, but I have some time to wait, or some good trades to happen.

As a player, I started this season excited to be on a player team. I was offered a salary a bit better than what I was making on the CPU team, and had a starting spot for a couple of my guys.

Now, I have no starters and am deep in some of the rosters due to better players being signed. That being said, I'm getting lots of play time and am leveling nicely so as a manager, I'm pleased. I've gotten my contracts renegotiated and I'm happy. I'm progressing nicely and enjoying the game. I have more money already than I'll need for a long time.

I think if managers and owners approached it from this perspective, all the greed issues would vanish. We are not the pro leagues, so we shouldn't be acting as such as managers. Just my thoughts.
