Simply question - does the OT line 7 yards away from the spot of the ball?

Outside Blocker
This player blocks well on outside running plays. Each level of Outside Blocker gives a +2% to speed, agility, vision, and blocking when blocking more than 7 yards outside the initial ball spot on rushing plays.

Thanks for the help.

No, the OT does not line up 7 yards away from the spot of the ball. That's 21 feet, you would have gaps of almost 10 feet between your C and G and then again between the G and OT.

guess that would open up the pass rushing lanes ... thanks for pointing out what should have been obvious to me

when Bort 'illustrated' the box for Outside Blocker, the line fell outside of where the tackles line up.

Doesnt mean tackles wont get outside the pocket once the play gets going, of course

You aren't the first person to wonder how close to 7 yards an OT lines up, just 2 days ago I caught one of my team's OTs with Outside Blocker.

I guess it is possible, sure. However I will point out that there isn't a single play in the playbook that call for an OT to pull. Without pulling, it is going to take some strange circumstances to get an OT to head that far outside and he has to start running outside almost immediately if he wants the Outside Blocker bonus to kick in before the RB leaves him in the dust.

The only lineman that could get much use out of Outside Blocker would be a fast G and only if his team likes running sweep with a pulling G. Other than that, it is best to leave this VA for FBs, TEs, and blocking WRs.
