Median stands or the middle value. Basically if you have a bunch of people at levels:

The median would be (9+12)/2 = 10.5 because there are an even number of values. If there were an odd number of values, it would be the middle number by itself.
Average is just the total of all the players levels divided by how many players there are. So for our example it would be (17+15+15+13+12+9+9+8+7+4)/10 = 10.9. With the way the numbers are distributed in GLB, the median tends to be slightly higher than the mean/average.
