You know, we tried that formula and it doesn't work. Why? As you proceed, the higher level guys, the guys youre going to need to win, don't want to play in AA. On top of that, they sure don't want to be on a mediocre team in AA. So recruiting sucks. The higher level guys are close to retirement, so they don't want to be on a slow, long range thinking team either. You guys are lucky, you have lots of money, that might help persuade some blue chippers, but they are only in it for money and after they get their equipment they shut down till next season. If you can keep a core group of guys that wont jump at any offer sent their way, you might prevail, but its hard and I give you credit for trying. Good Luck. I do though think, In order to progress you will need mid 50 players or be stuck here forever.

Recruiting for Oh-io is easy as hell. I get about 90% of the recruits that I really want. I don't want any 60+ guys. There is a reason we did not upgrade level wise. We have a good group sticking together and plan to make it up with the same level guys instead of having to rebuild. By the time Oh-io gets to Pro, our current players will be at the prime of their careers.

EDIT: No 60+ besides our mentors and ST's guys

EASILY the way to go. I GM other teams who have went and upgraded, and it has not made all the lower agents so happy. And on other teams that upgraded and are still not competitive so it hurts even more.

I trust that our teams builds are and will be better than 90+% of the rest of GLB by level, so why would I want to have to recruit every season? Plus a good deal of our team has been together since the beginning and slow built together

I think a good solid organisation like what you apparantly have going can work.

But the thing is, I've also seen the other end of the scale (with other teams and not Bangkok) where it was simply impossible to continue using the same guys that set out to make the team when it was first founded as a capped 13 team in BBB. We're still all mostly together one way or another (but perhaps not all of us have players on the same team) but due to many, many different factors it was pretty much necessary to upgrade some areas to remain competitive as we were promoted. That's not to say we simply didn't renew contracts and tossed the agent and player out, they're all still within our 'system' or 'web' of teams but it was necessary to replace a few guys. I think two of our main agents and possibly others are no longer with us as well, so in these cases too players need to be replaced.

We have been able to do it with few upgrades, and this would be the toughest season out of all of them. After this season, it should not be as tough.

If you recruit properly, there are 45's out there that are just as good as some of those lvl 60 guys

Our core group has been the same since level 1. You will always have issues when your dealing with 30 plus other players with loosing a man or two every other season. It just happens. But it is much easier to build a good team if you have a core group of around 20 people that make up 2/3's of the roster. I watched a team I had a player on blow up because the owner was impatient and started cutting the lower guys and adding worse built 50's and 60's. A better built player is a better built player, yes, the VA's make too big of a difference right now, but by the time our guys hit 48 to 50, it won't make a difference.

When I meant upgrade, I didn't simply mean just going for higher leveled players regardless of build - that's just silly and I honestly think most people are a bit smarter than that. Of course I understand the build issues which is why when I say upgrade I really mean UPGRADE. Obviously there are some good level 45s out there that are on par with the really mediocre level 60s but the fact of the matter is the level 60s will generally have a better build (not including VAs) even if the person isn't a super star builder purely because they are 15 levels higher. That's a lot more training, a couple of points in natural progression (though hardly any) and 75 more SPs (not to mention maybe more thanks to lots more opportunities to train on intense).

It's clear that the level 60s won't last as long as some of the younger guys, but the key is to mix it up a bit. Sometimes you just need that little extra edge in a few positions to get over the hump. You'll see with the two AA teams I OC (particularly Stirling as they have an older core while Bangkok is a little younger in general) they have a few lower leveled and younger players that are really there for the long run. They play backup for now but then start later on when the people in front of them retire.

There's no problem just sitting around for a season and suffering as I'm sure a core that's pretty much stuck together this far will continue to do so. But its always nice to remain competitive even if it does mean a marquee player here or there (presuming there's room and you don't have to displace anyone) as it does mean your fan factor (especially the high end which takes ages to build up) doesn't have to be completely rebuilt and regained which could make things a little financially easier. As a core group where all players are of similar level, this means you're all hitting upgrades at around the same time which could be a little hectic even with good financial planning. So every bit of fan factor counts
