After 7 successful and enjoyable season's, Kathmandu regrettably announced today (officially), that this will be their final season in Southeast Asia.
"We have (and have had) some great players/agents. I want to thank all of them for their continued effort and commitment with us, over our time here in SEA. However, the time has come for us to bow out, as other more pressing issues require our focus", commented TAB, long time owner of the Mountaineers.
Kathmandu entered this season having produced a winning record in all but one of it's 6 seasons, and also recorded at least 11 regular season victories in each of those winning seasons. They were at their peak in Seasons 5 and 6 when the team went 16-0 and 15-1 respectively, before being upset in the 2nd round of the playoffs both times. Kathmandu has never advanced to a a conference or league championship game, despite it's 70-26 regular season record over their history.
The Mountaineers will finish this season with their complete roster, looking to make one last run at a championship and forever etching their name into the SEA Record Books. At the conclusion of this season, the stadium will empty, the locker room cleaned out and doors closed for the final time. May their legacy last much longer.
