Confidence is a primary skill for Gs. I know I capped it early for my G and am letting it naturally get to 61. Well, I am helping it out by training it lol. Anyways, somebody pointed out to me in an older discussion about confidence and the O line, that if the C has enough Line Gen SAs the rest of the line can probably live with less confidence. I am not sure how true this is. My G should have 61 confidence soon enough. If he needs more later in hs career getting to 68 should not be hard.

Well the aforementioned center (who, again, is doing fine this season... and this was before I added +6 more strength via EQ) is at 13 Line General and has 15 in Natural Leader. So I'd have to say that I'm pretty convinced that Line General must be firing pretty often. And I would put a little more weight in confidence if my Center hadn't always performed so well without confidence. I can say with a pretty high degree of certainty that my Center could play for almost any team in GLB.

I wouldn't listen too much to the people making a big deal of confidence. It seems like they've just latched onto the one thing in your build that is slightly lower than could be expected. Sure, it undoubtably factors in somewhere, but for every individual with pancakes who happens to have confidence, there will always be another with low confidence who racks them up also. Observations with 1 player given as proof (who is playing in a low levelled league) are not accurate at all in my opinion. In my tests with conf and based on observations on all the players I've seen, I don't think getting it around/above 70 should be a priority for a G (especially a RG). I do agree with Dragon though - probably worth capping relatively early in a G's lifetime and letting it level naturally in the 2:1 range up to 60 to take advantage of the gains.

A full analysis of your player's 'issues' would be to see exactly what plays are run and how often he is making it past the NT (who will be tough to knock down) to the LBs. I can't be bothered myself, but I imagine the ratio of the number of times he interacts in a run blocking situation with players other than the NT to the number of pancakes he gets will be just fine. As an initial check, compare your numbers to the starting RG - he has a very low pancake total also despite playing more snaps on offense. Even if he is poorly built, the 9 levels he has on you will still make his player around the same threat as yours. Don't worry about your build, it is a good one, and just work on the SAs to take one or two very high. If you were on another Pro team that had a different playbook I imagine your pancake number would be much higher. Still, as you mentioned in your OP, pancakes aren't all they are made to be so there is no reason to be concerned.

I am not one who subscribes to the 'hidden attributes' theory. Cases like this could potentially lead people to wonder if something funny is up, but I feel that a full analysis of them will dispel those worries. And likewise you shouldn't worry.

Clearly you aren't interested in hearing advise from folks building guards differently than you and seeing improved results than following outdated build guides.

No one attacked you, but it is obvious you feel anyone suggesting you do something other than what you posted deserves to be insulted and challenged.

So, keep build that speed guard. I am sure you'll be extatic over the results in 2 seasons when you finally hot that target...

Oh - maybe if you reach out to this guy he can help as well.

Looks like he might know the secret to higher performance.

You didn't "attack" me, but you tried to make a "veiled" shot at my player by insinuating that somehow yours was superior because of some evidence that had little to no actual value... and are now simply backtracking because I completely and totally dismissed your irrelevant statement. I am completely and totally willing to listen to advice, but I'm also not going to take too much time listening to advice that is going to be of no value to my character. And for that matter, I'm not even completely dismissing confidence... if I was rebuilding a guard, I would probably get confidence up higher at an early level and let it coast from there to take advantage of the level up gains. However, at this point in my Guards career... the gains from getting confidence up will be negligent at best, and even more so at RG.

And, tbh, I can't tell if you linking me that center is a joke or not. I'm assuming it's not, but I'm really hoping it is.
