The Red Knights, Red Devils, Dragons and those Mercenaries from Milano, the Mamertini are all moving up to AA. if only 1 more, than probably the Drakkar (based on points scored). We (The Mastodons) are in the mix for the next spot if there is one. How many teams do you guys think will move up???

If we don't make it, since there is no telling where any of the rest of us will end up. I just want to thank all of you for a fun season! Being only 3 seasons old, we are a relatively new team, so we are kind of just getting to know you guys. But it really has been enjoyable! I wish all of you good luck in the future (of course with the exception of when you may play us. In that case, as the old saying goes, "may the fleas of a thousand camels infest your arm pits!" )

There is a problem though that remains unclear. In Bort's "Restructure Chat Thread", he states the following:

You will be in line to have a chance to move up to AA, since you're in the uncapped tier. We'll be doing the normal winners up/losers down promotions for A -> AA, and then shuffling the A's, and then filling from the remaining uncapped tiers (likely most of the A teams, the couple of BBB leagues) based on record, playoff wins, points scored, etc.

The normal promotion is two winners up, two losers down. This is the four teams jimbcnu names for WE A#5.

Then the leagues reshuffle, and then remaining AA vacancies are filled from uncapped ("the cloud", as they call it). My gut feeling is that the reshuffle will group teams by similar levels. I know Munich and my team are down-level from many other teams that were #3 or #4 in their conferences (my team boasts one level 50 player and 25 players in the 30's), and I would expect Bort and company to start looking among the highest-leveled uncapped leagues first for promotees (this based on some other entries in the thread). That could mean that a team like Munich or mine, although competitive, would be left out in favor of a higher-level team with an otherwise similar profile.

I also question if promotion would necessarily place such a team in the same ladder league as they would have risen to under automatic promotion. In other words, if Munich were promoted, would they end up in WE AA#3, or would they be placed in an AA based on level-shuffling criteria? I know there was some earlier mention that a team's original league allegiance would be saved in the database, but it strangely was not mentioned (or I missed it) in the thread. Part of the fun of the game is preserving the rivalries (and reviving them) from season to season while moving along.

I guess we will know on the morning of Day 43.

But being promoted hands you literal millions of free $$$ for just that purpose. There is no real downside to promotion provided you do not mind taking a few knocks and/or becoming a recruiting madman. In fact, with the media revenue stuff and greater ticket sale differentiation, we are probably going to see a caste system develop wherein it will become very difficult to recruit good high level players for any league below AA. They can get equipment money virtually guaranteed in AA or above, but not so in the finance-challenged "cloud" (and below). So only the players that cannot make it in AA (unwanteds) will be playing in "the cloud".

That effect may be remedied as players start to geez after 10 seasons and begin to fall into the minor leagues, not sure. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. Oh brave new world...
