#1 Burleson Assassins v #8 Sooner or Laters
The West's bull in a china closet, Burleson gets a game against SoL (a fitting acronym), whom they beat by 42 only 3 games ago. In that game, Burleson got almost 800 yards of offense. On the plus side for SoL, they got well over 400 themselves and showed the ability to score. 8s have beaten 1s in the playoffs before, but I don't see it this time. Burleson will be motivated to see Southside again, the team tha eliminated them last season. Ya, I know I was a bit mean to SoL, but hey, I'm a Texas Tech guy. Burleson 75, Sooner 17.
#2 Southside Spartans v #7 Chicago Beasts
Another playoff game between two teams that played each other recently, with Southside housing da Beasts 107-27. Not only did Southside have a ton of yards, they scored 4 TDs on returns in an awesome special teams demo. Southside was inches away from promotion last season and they are looking good to move up this time. Chicago is full of class and very active in the forums, so look for some adjustments. Southside 62, Chicago 21.
#3 Bronx Bears v #6 Golden State Giants
Having GM'd for the Hawks, we have seen the Bears several times and know they are well run. Golden State has had a good season, but got crushed by Bronx 72-16 earlier. First time out Bronx scored on offense, defense and special teams in a dominate performance. They likely have way too much this time as well. Bronx 63, Golden State 17.
#4 Memphis Showboats v #5 Las Vegas Miscreants
This has the potential to be the best West first round game, as the others have wood-shed written all over them. Their first meeting was a well contested 27-15 victory for Memphis. Memphis only outgained LV by 6.5 yards for the game. LV was balanced, where Memphis relied on the pass. Had Memphis not won the turnover battle, it would have been even closer on the scoreboard. Both offensive and defensive lines played to a virtual standstill, so I am looking forward to seeing this one unfold. I think Memphis holds serve by a tad. Memphis 31, Las Vegas 24.
